I think the movie nailed the physical appearance of each robot. Every single one brought back so many wonderful memories of myself playing with the toys. I nearly wept when I first saw Optimus Prime, they really hit home with his character. However I was pretty disappointed in how little of a fight he put up against Megatron at the end- I thought they were supposed to be pretty much evenly matched. I agree with everyone that the side stories were very bad, but I definitely give the robots/special effects an A+.

"I think if Spielberg directed instead of Bay, the movie would have been way better."

"I like John Turturro but his role was bad."

100% agreed.

Just saw it. Wasn't impressed. I think if Spielberg directed instead of Bay, the movie would have been way better.

The comic was actually quite good. I knew the movie wouldn't follow that. You actually saw little decepticons in the movie. They didn't have much face time. That is one thing I disliked about the movie.

It could have been better. Jon Voight looks complete ridculous in this. So the soliders keep shooting guns at them throughout the entire movie even though they have little affect. Pointless.

I like John Turturro but his role was bad.

I didn't like the movie, because if they had actually thought about it the plot and acting actually could have been way better. Man, that was silly.

It was just an intro movie trust me I truly believe that the sequels will be soooo much better.

( and Prime really wasn't much of a match for Megatron. In the cartoon they were always pretty evenly matched with maybe a slight edge to Megatron, but in the movie Prime just seemed to be taking a wicked beating without putting up much of a fight.

Horrible this is not even close to being true. Go back and watch your cartoons. There was an episode where prime and megatron fight one on one in duel and the only way megatron can win is by super cheating.

Prime was always beating up on megatron but somehow megatron always got away.

This pissed me off because the movie made prime out to be a wimp.

Ironhide was perfect !

The only transformer that should have been in there was Brawn because he was the funniest little badass ever.

"If ya got it.....Use it"

Great Movie Can't wait for Part 2

So the part when the guy on the motorcycle helps take down Blackout with a well placed shot to the BALLS, that was pointless eh?

What do you expect them to do, sit back and do nothing? The soldiers painted their targets for the F22s, a key role don't you think?

Just sit back and enjoy the movie =/

this movie did not completely suck but it was not good. maybe 4/10.

anyway two things i noticed that i do not think have been mentioned yet here.

when the fat kid gets his camcorder and starts running after the transformers who are crashing into the ground, he says something to the effect of, "this is better than Armageddon!" hey, at least Michael bay knows that he sucks.

also, when the 4,000 piece of junk car turns into the super fly ride in the tunnel, it comes up to the boy and the girl while that song used in kill bill is playing. badass yellow car getting introduced = uma in badass yellow suit walking into the restaurant to kill oren?

Good movie.

Could have been 30-45 minutes shorter.

The one-liners were funny but they sometimes dragged them out WAY too long (like the whole "were you masturbating" shtick).

John Turturro actually managed to suck for the first time in his career.

"They don't deserve to live." "But they deserve to have the choice!" have officially become the dumbest line in 2007

But most importantly: what the hell is his obsession with low angle close-up slow-motion shots?!!! I THINK that the action sequences were really bad ass, but I'm not too sure since all I could see were DORITOS XTREME close-ups of feet, faces, guns and explosions.

Michael Bay is good at letting the audience know what is going on while making sure they don't see it. Throughout the movie all I could think was: "Ok, that's Optimus flying down the side of a building, now if the camera was pushed back just a little and stopped shaking around i think i could actually see how cool it looks"

It's like Charlie said, if Michael Bay would have Directed Jurassic Park it still would have been enjoyable and successful but not nearly as great. Action sequences like the T-Rex chasing the jeep would have been less thrilling and more of a giant foot slamming into the ground right next to the camera, then a jaw clamping on a jeep, then a witty line, then a cutaway to a little kid and a mother freaking out and saying something funny, then a dinosaur foot slamming into the ground, then...ad nauseum.

Another thing. Did anybody else think that the non-orchestral songs were completely out of place? Like when Michelle Fox says: "I'll drive, you shoot" to Bumblebee and she rolls out with the tow-truck right when a rock song kicks in. The only song that seemed to work was the racing sequence between Bumblebee and the police car.

Didn't think about that. Either way I couldn't help but think how much better Tarantino uses songs in his movies. His sequence is an artful piece of pimpocity; Bay's is a generic commercial.
