[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] How did we humans survive from 10,000 years ago considering that we did not have one million various rules and regulations (that grow daily) back then? [/ QUOTE ] This is an extremely weak argument. I don't think anyone is arguing that regulations like gun control and airport security are about surviving as a species. [/ QUOTE ] So the safety checks, etc are not to increase our safety....ahem which would translate into improved chances of survival? Is your arguement that the safety factor remains unchanged but your personal subjective feelings are better off and that is why you support all the rules and regulations? Gee thanks for being so honest about it. I didn't think very many people who managed their feelings like this were in touch with what they were actually doing. |

[ QUOTE ]
To all the anti gun people: Which hypothetical society would you rather live in: A society where everyone (or almost everyone) has one or more guns in their homes and they live peacefully. A society that has zero guns but verbal hostilitiy, fist fights, and thefts are fairly common. [/ QUOTE ] I don't see what purpose the question serves in this discussion? Am I supposed to answer it and admit that with gun control comes hostility, fist fights, and thefts? That's a false argument. Is the fear of getting shot the only reason why you don't verbally berate or physically abuse everyone you don't like? |

[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] regarding the definition of "assault rifle"- Marine Corps standard issue M16A2s do not have an automatic option, only semi-auto and 3 shot burst, which is the same for all M16A2s. Only certain M4A1 Commandos, etc have that auto option as far as I'm aware. The AR-15 is chambered for 5.56 M855 ball ammo (at least that's the most common ammunition i've seen) too, just like all the "real" assault rifles" [/ QUOTE ] I think you'll find that the BATFE will disagree that a weapon that is capable of 3 round burst is not an automatic weapon. [/ QUOTE ] Max Effective Rate of Fire: 45 rounds per minute (semi-auto) 90 rounds per minute (3-round burst) 800 rounds per minute (Cyclic) And for anyone that knows...3 round burst is for the most part useless other than in cases of close quarter combat. In fact, my instructors in training asked us why we'd use 3 shot burst, considering how inaccurate it is (as in it raises the sight). Basically, the implementation of a 3 shot burst auto on standard issue service rifles is pretty stupid. But I don't want to quibble over this. |

[ QUOTE ]
Such as when you lose your house, job, and wife all on the same day, and you just feel like going to some public location and kill random people. Maybe a little harsh, but could you list some events where it is likely that lives will be saved because you own an AR-15? [/ QUOTE ] Could you tell me why we're singling out the AR-15 (or any other semi-auto weapon for that matter) for being some sort of "super weapon"? |

[/ QUOTE ] I'm just saying that in the eyes of the BATFE, a gun that can fire a 3-round burst will be considered automatic and without the proper registration and tax stamps, you could find yourself in a world of trouble. I'm pretty sure auto or semi-auto is determined by how many rounds can be fired with one pull of the trigger. |

[/ QUOTE ] The purpose is to find out whether people who are 'against guns' are so against guns that they would choose to live in a violent world to avoid guns. Another point is to simply highlight the fact that guns do not cause violence, violent people do. |

You could start with how many crimes are committed with $4000+ bolt action rifles. Believe it or not, I saw that hack job when they aired it. |
