I'm in the MCNL camp.

But, BCNL has a ring to it. Bankroll-Challenged No Limit.

uSNL is the perfect acronym for the microstakes (can we get the actual Greek letter "mu" symbol?)... but I'll bet that there will be a ton of questions about what the "u" means

[/ QUOTE ]

µSNL ? is this it?

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, you did it in unicode? The HTML way of inserting it is μ but html is disabled on these boards for some reason.

Okay guys, looks like the split has the support of the masses so we will wait and see what the powers that be have to say.

In the meantime, we need a snappy acronym for the new forum since MSNL is already taken. Have at it....

[/ QUOTE ]

The correct answer is obviously uNL.

[/ QUOTE ]

As in 'Carpal/uNL' ?

These are Extended ASCII keycodes. There are two sets, one with a leading zero, one without.

Method to get one is the same, but the codes differ.

All you do is hold (Left)ALT key, and type the character's code number (must use the num-pad).

For the Micro sign (µ), use ALT+230 or ALT+0181.

Here is a list of ALT codes, from WikiPedia.

Quark,

AJ, Isura and I are still awaiting the transfer of funds from the Grand Negus before we consider this. I thought you said this would not be a problem. We will give you until tomorrow to get this straightened out; otherwise we will opt for the back-up candidate, theredpill12345.

I would ask the forum mods to continue to work to get the MSNL and HSNL players to post here (the Well comes to mind) as their advice is definitely coveted by a player such as myself.

[/ QUOTE ]

You guys keep saying this, but posting in SSNL is not a high priority for these guys. THere is a search function and archives. Read up on top players in strategy threads. A few of them even used to post in the small stakes forums.

Start by reading every strategy post that MDMA has ever written. Now repeat for El Diablo, riverboatking, fimbulwinter, thebruiser500. You get the idea.

[/ QUOTE ]

Understood Isura. My only point was its not always easy to apply their advice in a NL 2000 game to a NL 100 game. Players certainly make different moves in those games than they do here. Its really educational to see them comment about a hand here at these levels
Certainly they are under no obligation to post here but its nice to see them give something back to the forum (aba's student comes to mind). All I was saying is that if you guys continue to ask them to do so it would be appreciated. Thats it

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes, I understand, and I would also be happy if these guys would pop into SSNL once in a while. But for most part, the archives is the best we can do (and it's pretty damn awesome that 2+2 saves archives). Some of the info in there is really cutting edge hasn't been written anywhere else.

[/ QUOTE ]

Read what Isura has posted very carefully

Most of us work very hard at are No-Limit games, but we forget to work smart. If you are trying to maximize your time spent studying, go through what the really smart players are saying and have said.

Personally, I have a list of about 10 posters that I check to see what they write every day. (Yes, Isura is one!)

Once a week, I try to go through the archives following what some forum god has posted.

Do this.

Good candidates would be anyone invited to do "the well." Spend some time in HSNL and find out who is respected there. Follow their posts around. Rinse and repeat.

"If I have seen further it is by standing on ye shoulders of Giants." --Isaac Newton

actually, go to wikipedia and find out the roots are before Newton.

[ QUOTE ]
The attribution to Bernard is due to John of Salisbury. In 1159, John wrote in his Metalogicon:

"Bernard of Chartres used to say that we are like dwarfs on the shoulders of giants, so that we can see more than they, and things at a greater distance, not by virtue of any sharpness on sight on our part, or any physical distinction, but because we are carried high and raised up by their giant size."
