so if i had bought 90 shares @11 for taylor, then i coulda sold 45@22 and had 45 free-rolling shares, good for 4500 if he wins (or 3k if i cashed out now; likely due to him not having 65% chance of winning; more like 60%) [/ QUOTE ] Taylor's chance of winning is over 75% |

Elliott fans hate Kat. Much more than I ever expected. Really hate her. Like "put her cat in the freezer" hate her. [/ QUOTE ] I agree, I get the same feeling from the boards I've read. It makes sense: Elliott the likeable scruffy underdog who worked in a pharmacy, Kat the rich miss perfect beauty queen with the music conservatory education. Figures their fans wouldn't like the other, they couldn't be more different. I definitely think Taylor would win this in a landslide if all votes were counted. But, since most votes end up as busy signals it's not a sure thing. The way the voting works, most votes go uncounted and the producers pretty much can pick whoever they want to win. I still think Taylor will win, but my plan is to sell half of my shares to lock in a nice win, then freeroll the rest. |

[ QUOTE ]
SO what is the plan now for Taylor holders? I sold 20 of my shares at 65 on Wed morning to lock in a profit. I'm now sitting on 40 Taylor shares. Should I sell them all at 65, sell perhaps half and ride the rest to the end, or hold them all till the end? Or maybe wait until after next Tues night to see how the performances/dialidol goes? I honestly think Taylor is going to win, but I'm not sure about risking 65 to win 35 at this point. [/ QUOTE ] I sold off 10 of my Taylor shares at 65, holding on to 15 more. I put in a $1k investment, so I'm not exactly freerolling yet, but I don't really care. I just wanted to get down to a level where I would feel more comfortable. I didn't want $2,500 riding on one vote. |

[ QUOTE ]
No way producers rigged the voting to pick a Taylor-Kat final. [/ QUOTE ] No, I am not saying the voting is rigged from the beginning, or that the producers wanted a Kat-Taylor final. I am saying that such a large number of votes go uncounted, especially at the high volumes like this week, that it is almost impossible to tell who's really getting the most votes. If somehow there were no busy signals, and every single vote got counted, I am sure Taylor, Kat, and Elliott would not have all been within a few tenths of a percentage point. But, since the phone lines are pretty much maxed out, you get basically a 3-way tie. Text votes and the randomness of phone circuits really determined the order. Again, I am not saying it's fixed, only that the limits of the phone voting system make Taylor less of a favorite than he might be otherwise under a better system. And, given a razor-thin margin, I don't put it past the producers to award the title to the one they think can make them the most money in the future as a recording artist. |

[/ QUOTE ] I think I read somewhere that the votes are verified by a 3rd party, but I don't remember the source, and I might be completely making that up. |

if i had bought taylor as soon as final 12 was announced and bidding opened, how much would he have cost at that point (or earlier if u could bid on him to win earlier)? [/ QUOTE ] 1/2 my contracts were bought at 8. the rest, i have a $14 average. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] here granny: They filmed a coin toss after the show, and Taylor won it. He chose to go second next week. [/ QUOTE ] source pls? tyvm [/ QUOTE ] http://et.tv.yahoo.com/tv/14759/ [/ QUOTE ] this is great news for taylor shareholders. and to weigh in on the sell/hold question, i took out ONLY our original investment. if katherine wins, we break even. if taylor wins we score huge. there is no doubt in my mind that this was the right move. |

The way the voting works, most votes go uncounted and the producers pretty much can pick whoever they want to win. [/ QUOTE ] what a silly statement coming from a rational AI poster. fox's standards and practices handle the votes. not the producers. the producers are simply given the result, and s&p makes sure the results are reported accurately. edit: nevermind. saw your explanation. |
