William,
I am getting kind of sick of your beating about the bush. If you know something that you are not sharing with me, you are upping my chances that I am going to get burned by something you know. I don't think it's right of you to hold out on me. |

To think most of the danish superstars of poker are celebrated for making their living playing highstakes cashgames at Ladbrokes What is one to think ? |

This thread is fantastic...I haven't read all of it (and would be disturbed with myself if I had). But here's my take:
1. ZJ and JJProdigy were clearly cheating and deserved what they got. 2. ZJ and JJ, however, are not the worst kind of cheaters. They're like folks who see someone drop the DVD they bought on leaving a store, and grab it for themselves. Not like the folks who would break into the store at night and steal the DVD off the shelf. They probably see themselves as basically honest people, even though they take the opportunity to cheat when it is put right in front of them. 3. As it stands, there are lots of opportunities to cheat that are so easily available and that don't "feel" so wrong to people who, while not out-and-out crooks, are less than completely honest. 4. Therefore, sites need to do more to not put opportunities to cheat in front of people like this. Even though it's true that investigating IP addresses of folks who do well in tournaments and that sort of thing isn't likely to catch the really determined cheats, it can still help by keeping basically honest people honest. That was the basic reason for having car keys, for example: any thief who really wants to steal a car isn't seriously deterred by not having the key, but the key is there to keep basically honest people from giving in to temptation. It makes it difficult enough that you have to really consciously set out to become a thief to do it. 5. This is not to say sites shouldn't go after the serious thieves too. Just that putting a simple lock on the door will also be really useful even if the lock is not impossible to pick. |

For all those whom are sending nasty and threatening PMs to me, I am immediately putting you on ignore and never removing you, as well as anyone whom makes any accusations, veiled or direct about me in this thread. So keep having fun. [/ QUOTE ] I just sent curtains a PM expressing support, but I'd like to make it public. Both curtains and Shaniac are being pilloried for no reason. Most thinking 2+2'ers support both of them.. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] ZJ,You should hire a criminal defense lawyer, and stop making statements. Seriously. [/ QUOTE ] If ZJ had any chance of getting his money back, he probably blew it when he posted his confession in this thread. That's why lawyers constantly remind their clients not to say anything. Too late for ZJ's bankroll. His confession probably didn't help his soul much either, since he is not truly contrite. [/ QUOTE ] PP has a pretty flawless ToS contract. i dont think he coulda even gone to court. [/ QUOTE ] I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess you haven't been through law school. There is no such thing as a flawless contract. |

You know, one thing I thought of out of all this. Everyone is assuming/hoping ZJ will grow up/learn from this/realize what he did was wrong and pull his head out, over time. What if he doesn't? What if this forces him to always play undercover of a pseudonym, so he can never live out his dreams of fame and glory? And what if that subverts itself and all that pent-up bitterness transforms him into some kind of uber-cheater? I mean he's gonna have to be a major cheater just to play on PP from now on. And he's not going to be able to tell a soul, as he has no idea who might rat him out. So no outside moral guidance, just a fugitive on the run with his own rationalizations, who's already breaking the rules.
What if this is the moment he turns to the dark side for good? Forever stalking the online poker sites, like some kind of Phantom of the Opera. Spoooooky. |
