Also an aside, I completely blew up at a fellow that was giving advice about what I had to another person at the table in the middle of a hand. I shoved and the guy said "fold he has the straight" and the guy folded (I actually had a boat). I told that guy that that sort of table talk isn't allowed, it's tantamount to cheating and not to do it again, he scoffed and told me "I had no authority." Would reporting him to stars support be an overreaction?

I see this a lot unfortunately. This particular incident I would definately report. A more common form of doucheness in the chat box is when someone folded a hand that would turn into a monster. Often before the hand has played out.

Idiotism in the chat box should have been included in the "What tilts you more" poll btw.

he would get insta-booted from a live club, or at least warned, so what makes it any more acceptable online? id report him straight away

This goes hand in hand with how people act online in general. Seems to be okay to act like an [censored] in cyberspace(to an extent). Just skim through a few random threads and try to imagine what would happen if someone said the same thing IRL.

Does multi table helper support other sites than party poker? I can't find a clue on its homepage.

It's a tool that helps you managing your tables. E.g. when you use party's resize function it (=party) will rearrange them and put the newest table in the bottom right. MTH does this kind of thing for you, can flash active tables, can keep their focus, can move tables that need your attention to a specific part of the screen (usefull if you have overlap. you only need to look to the lower right or upper left or whatever and see the table that needs your attention), supports key control instead of mouseclicks and even has voice recognition. Neat tool. But I don't know if it works for FTP. I think the coder is a member of 2p2. His forum name is in the contacts. OcaDK or OrcaDK or something.

I hope you took advantage of this. Check/raised turn and fired second barrels. And when they caught up to that, you would have everyone turned into calling stations.
