Refs arent to blame for the fumbles, but I hope the cumulative frustration just fires up the Pats and they crush in the 2nd half. |

If that was pass interference then they might as well wear panties. [/ QUOTE ] The rules of the NFL are messed up in a lot of spots. And they are applied inconsistently across the board. So the end result is just one big controversy after another. And in this incident, there is an actual case that can be made using the definitions from the NFL's rulebook. And when that happens, complain to Tagliabue and not the poor back judge... |

It was obvious the sole reason Samuel cut across the receiver was to prevent him from making the catch, and NOT Samuel making a play on the pass...
It was not obvoius at all. Yes, he was trying to keep inside position on Lelie, but one of the reasons he does that is because it will be easier to intercept the pass from that position. That was just textbook DB play. And after Tivoing it several times, I'm inclined to think the farside official might have thrown the flag on the slight handplay AFTER the ball landed clearly out of both their reach. It was awful. So if you interpret the rules literally and apply them to that situation the call fits. Just like the "Tuck Rule." It's a BS rule, but a rule nonetheless and was properly applied to the NE/OAK a couple years back. Doesn't mean Brady didn't fumble, just means there was a loophole that allowed the Patriots to win that game... That's almost a fair point. Except that kind of WR/CB positioning goes on dozens of times every game, and there is strong precendent for a no-call there. The tuck/fumble thing is fluky play that that happens a couple times a season, so the it's natural for the rulebook to come into play more there. |

(also, the WRONG call resulted in an immediate 7pts) [/ QUOTE ] they also showed a replay where the lineman moved before the long FG. They should have moved em back 5 yards and rekicked. |

can we also not forget that the moron back judge THOUGHT about it before throwing the flag? it didnt appear until a good 3-5 seconds after the ball hit the ground.

Snake looks rattled [/ QUOTE ] Absolutely genius... I hope the Patriots can come back from this... If not, I'm already trying to forget about that pass interference call, because I really don't wanna be like those annoying Raider fans and their ref complaints... Good game so far, hopefully it stays entertaining to the end. |
