Aw, man. Are we gonna have to write Logging and stuff, just because Sean's computer's all gunked-up? (Just kidding. Thanks for testing.) -Sam [/ QUOTE ] sorry for the delay i was away from a computer all day. pretty please. i did at least 4 or 5 more tests and ruled out all of my accessory programs as possible culprits. the only programs i did not shut down were snoop free and processguard (full).....maybe i will try once more with process guard shut down (without the FPHG running it isn't mining so shouldn't be a problem i hope). the recurring problem: with iWitness running after 15min my internet connection crashes and i am unable to reconnect. any and all assistance would be most appreciated---i have pulled my hair out over this one and come up with nothing so far. sean |

i think i may have narrowed it down to a conflict with Process Guard (V3.150FullVersion). i shutdown PG and ran only iWitness with no problems for almost an hour. Usually, after 15 min the connection goes down.
I just switched PG back on to test whether the connection goes donw (10min and counting). Perhaps one of the options is conflicting with iWitness? Also, what do people think about running iW + FPHG with only xnoopfree and zonealarm (no process guard). what kind of risk of party detection do you think there is for FPHG? cheers, sean (6min and counting...) |

I have had some issues here -- sometimes (not always) iWitness freezes, and I've suspected ProcessGuard. I'm toying with it to see if I can clarify.
Make sure iWitness is given full rights to do whatever it wants to minize problems. . . the problem may actually be ProcessGuard conflicting with something ELSE in your system. Try this: with all apps off, put Process Guard in "learning mode." Restart and do something which uses your net connection (not Party, but something you know is safe; do some MusicFileSharing downloads or something) for an hour or so. Then reboot again. After that, take ProcessGuard out of learning mode. If there's some (safe) application that runs after 15 minutes on the net or something, ProcessGuard will learn what it is and allow it to work. (If you ran Party during this time, it would learn to allow Party to do the nasty!) If your lockup is caused by something else running which PG prevents (like something which is supposed to stop your net connection from timing out), this should solve it. Come to think of it, you might be able to spot the problem by poring over the ProcessGuard logs after a lock-up; see if something go blocked? GL! |

VICTORY (so far) -- OVER MY PROCESS GUARD BUG
Mogobu, Thanks for you input it was much appreciated. When I read it i was actually going throught the PG alerts and seemed to have located the problem (hopefully): -for some reason PG was creating literally hundreds of alerts that iW as trying to alter Party (even though iW has those been given approval and Party is unprotected from modification). They must have built up to a point where PG permanently shuts the entire connection down. ....in case there are others i wrote out the steps..... <u>steps to follow if internet connections keeps crashubg whust running PG and iW:</u> 1- reinstall process guard 2- be sure to use the "learning mode" for all of your regular activities (before you start up party and iW) 3- in the Protection Tab: a) autohotkey should be authorized to "modify" protected applications AND "read" from protected applications (by checking the associated two boxes) b) partygaming should NOT be protected from "modification" by UNCHECKING the associated box (note: "reading" in the same "protect thuis application from" box should NOT be checked either) 4) check the Alerts display for anything regarding Autohotkey being blocked (specifically if it blocked from modifying partygaming). this seems to have cleared up the issues i was having (the reloading PG was the main fix) and i have yet to have another internet connection crsh. i am still getting to know PG so if you have any other suggestions for me (or others) regarding its use please let us know. woooo hooo, damn i love how well iW work now that it lasts > 15min. cheers, sean |

[/ QUOTE ] Mogobu or anyone, i am getting an alert that PG is blocking Partygaming from installing a driver/service. i haven't seen any problems with party yet but have yet to actually play there with PG running. is this something i definately need to block? any insight as to what this might be? just curious at this point (i.e., no problems to report), cheers, sean |

That's why you installed PG.

yeah that's what i thought too.
i gues the keyboard and screen hooks it has blocked thus far from party have seemed more obviously problematic (as their general function is somewhat clear). i guess i what i meant to say is--i am wondering what these blocked drivers do? ps.sam and roland - sorry for the PG hijack and ultimately taking over your "personal" thread |

what risk do I put myself at not using PG n SF?
Is there any risk PP closes my account if they found out? It would be interesting in knowing how they monitor their users. |

RE: BUG REPORT--KICKED OFF INTERNET CONNECTION WHILST USING iWITNESS (with that free program) The problem has occured three times so far where i am kicked off my internet (cable) connection and absolutely cannont reconnect. I have tried numerous things including the "repair" function in the LAN section of control panel, which does not work either because it cannot recognize any connection. The only way i have been able to regain my internet connection is to reboot my system. I was running the following: iwitness, freeprogram, party, zone alarm (firewall and spyware), norton (virus), process guard and snoopfree.....to be thourough---process tamer, freeRAM xp pro and firefox as well). As a test I tried using the free program manually for a couple of hours earlier in the night and had no problems---once i started using iwitness again i get completely booted off my internet connection after about 20minutes. I have no idea what might be causing the problem? If you have any suggestions i would be most appreciative. I will post with any further developments (read:hopefully no more sudden upluggings). cheers, sean ps. It seems unwise to run these without snoopfree and process guard thus i haven't tried that yet. edit ...just happened again....here is the error message when trying to repair or reconnect the connection. [/ QUOTE ] I am experiencing the same problem. What did u do to solve it? Was it zonealarma related? (i dont use zonealarm) |
