12 team 6x6, OBA/SLG instead of average, holds for pitchers. Bay $16 and Glaus at $21 for Hanley Ramirez at $11 and Escobar at $7. [/ QUOTE ] i hate to give up hanley at a bargain price, but the obp/slg hurts his value a lot. i'll take bay and glaus with no regrets. |

[ QUOTE ]
I know this draft was bad, as it was live and i almost solely do message board keeper drafts now, but i want to see how bad you guys think it is. [/ QUOTE ] i'm not a fan of your first two picks, but mauer, ryan, and sheets are all nice picks where you got them, and you didn't screw up horribly in the middle rounds. though i like burrell for this year, this league setup kills his value. at least you didn't take any others like him. your late round picks include a mix of some meh picks and some hidden value (rincon, olsen, encarnacion). i see no reason to waste a pick on mulder, but that's not a big mistake. if you can swing a lot of trades, this is the kind of league where you can benefit from using only relievers, as you are only hurting yourself in two out of sixteen categories. however, this is not necessary and probably difficult to pull off with a good staff of starters. overall: B- |

Ok, I have a draft tomorrow I haven't prepared for because I am more interested in football offseason and hockey then baseball at this point in the year... 10 teams, I have the 10th pick. Players: C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, OF, OF, OF, Util, SP, SP, RP, RP, P, P, P, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, DL Stats: R, H, HR, RBI, SB, BB, AVG, OBP, SLG IP, W, L, SV, BB, K, ERA, WHIP, K/BB Anything stand out to anyone? I'm thinking that I shouldn't worry about catcher too much, go after starters who get K's and value leadoff hitters a bit more then normal. Sound about right? [/ QUOTE ] i see nothing in the league setup that indicates you "shouldn't worry about catcher". a mauer, mccann or vmart is going to be plenty valuable in this league with their superior numbers in hits, obp, and slugging. if anything jumps out at me, it's that power/command starting pitchers are hugely valuable. ben sheets and jake peavy are monsters in this setup. meanwhile, devalue closers and one-dimensional base stealers heavily since saves (or steals) account for 1/18 of your points instead of 1/10. this is especially true for guys like wickman and borowski who are going to hurt you in the command categories, or a guy like juan pierre who will kill you in obp and slg. even a guy like jose reyes drops out of the first round with all the offensive categories he doesn't contribute in. |

Thanks. The reason I was thinking catchers would be devalued is there are so many accumulation categories for hitters and they generally play less games. Obviously Mauer is a bit of an exception, but all the people in this league live in MN so I figured he'd be overvalued.

[/ QUOTE ] yes, well, if your projections say catcher A is going to get 10 more homers than catcher B, it doesn't matter how many games it takes to realize this advantage. it actually helps a little if it's fewer games, since you can sometimes profit by playing another catcher on the days you know your starter is sitting. it's important to know the tendencies of your opponents, of course, and if this means you have to draft no twins this year, so be it. |

It seems a lot less complex if you take out Wright, since he's in all 3 scenarios.
-Pujols/Young -Utley/Vlad -Howard/Vlad I personally like the 3rd option despite being a big Utley fanboy. Having Howard and Vlad, both definite 1st rounders, would be a great start. |

LBJ, thanks for your opinion, but I just wantto know if it takes into account all of the added categories, or if you think howard>utley as a keeper, or what your opinion's based on.

Since no one gives a damn about any post I make, guess I'll try here:
I'm offered Kendrick/Peralta/Dye for Dunn/B. Philips in standard yahoo h2h league, take? |

No, I took into account the extra categories. I chose Howard because despite being quite possibly the worst player you could have with the K's category, he walks a lot and will help you in H and TB. Furthermore, his keeper value is much higher than Utley's. Howard and Vlad seem like the best choice if those 3 are your only options.
