Greg Olsen very likely moved ahead of Zach Miller (though I haven't seen the latter yet). Greg Olsen has outstanding hands. During the receiving competition, he was moving so fast that he started to call out for the balls to be placed in the machine and launched faster. His form was excellent. [/ QUOTE ] Greg Olsen looks like a beast. The next Todd Heap?? |

Meanwhile, Zach Miller could be more of a Jeremy Shockey type tight end given his size, strength and quick hands. |

i had the chance to watch stanton play a few times when he was at michigan state. he's very, very impressive and extremely athletic/elusive. and tough too. i can't say he'll make a better nfl qb than quinn or russell, but he'll have a long, productive career imo.

My (once again) revised mock draft: Next one will be made after the combine if any news comes out.
1. Oakland Raiders: JaMarcus Russell, QB, LSU - Al Davis tried to bring in a mobile quarterback in Aaron Brooks and that was ineffective. Russell is reminiscent of Daunte Culpapper in terms of size, mobility and arm strength. 2. Detroit Lions: Brady Quinn, QB, Notre Dame - Let us pray that Matt Millen does not pick Calvin Johnson. The Lions have plenty of receivers, but no QB to make them look useful. Kitna is not the QB you want to build your team around. 3. Cleveland Browns: Adrian Peterson, RB, Oklahoma - Possibly the best running back in the country before a freak injury ended his season. Reuben Droughns has underachieved ever since coming to Cleveland. 4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Calvin Johnson, WR, Georgia Tech - Joey Galloway is getting old and Michael Clayton had a dismal second year after a solid rookie season. Calvin Johnson is Terrell Owens minus the egotism. 5. Arizona Cardinals: Joe Thomas, OT, Wisconsin - A pretty simple decision for Arizona. They've got plenty at the skill positions. Now, they have to get the offensive line working. Hopefully, drafting Joe Thomas will allow Leonard Davis to move back to his natural position, offensive guard. 6. Washington Redskins: Gaines Adams, DE, Clemson - This is a pretty open pick for the Redskins. They just have to pick whoever they consider the best defensive player in the draft. The Redskins could not get any pressure on the QB this season. Hopefully Gaines Adams can change that. 7. Minnesota Vikings: Jamaal Anderson, DE, Arkansas - A very tradeable pick. The biggest need for the Vikings is arguably wide receiver. With Calvin Johnson off the board, they would have to settle for Dwayne Jarrett or Ted Ginn Jr. However, they can get those guys later by trading down or hope to trade up and get Johnson. If they stay where they are, expect them to get some defensive help. 8. Houston Texans: Alan Branch, DT, Michigan - Any selection is a good one here. They have problems all over their team. Ideally, they would have loved to get Adrian Peterson to replace the injury-prone Dominack Davis and to put Wali Lundy and Ron Dayne on the bench. If they can't get that, then just about any defensive player is a good pick. Alan Branch is a freak and the Texans allowing him to get past them is a lesser version of them skipping over Reggie Bush for Mario Williams. 9. Miami Dolphins: Leon Hall, CB, Michigan - The Dolphins biggest issue is that QB, but after Quinn and Russell, there is no QB worth picking at #9 overall. Their defense, while great, didn't have a true shutdown cornerback. Hopefully Leon Hall can fit that role. 10. Atlanta Falcons: LaRon Landry, S, LSU - Lawyer Milloy has been a bust and the safety situation in Atlanta is sticky. Landry is the best safety in the draft and will be a fine fit for them. 11. San Francisco 49ers: Ted Ginn Jr., WR, Ohio State - A tough decision between Jarrett and Ginn but in the end, I think they choose Ginn because of the added bonus that he can return kicks and punts very effectively. The 49ers lack that as much as they a wide receiver. Picking Ginn is killing two birds with one stone. 12. Buffalo Bills: Levi Brown, OT, Penn State - The Bills are hoping that Losman isn't the problem with their offense. Levi Brown is a freak of an offensive tackle and is much needed in Buffalo. 13. St. Louis Rams: Amobi Okoye, DT, Louisville - A pretty straightforward decision for St. Louis: pick the best defensive player in the draft. The Rams were 31st overall in stopping the run, which should lean closer to Okoye over anybody else. 14. Carolina Panthers: Patrick Willis, ILB, Ole Miss - The Panthers no longer have the likes of Kevin Greene on their team. They need a solid tackler and versatile linebacker to man their defense. 15. Pittsburgh Steelers: Justin Blalock, OG, Texas - The Steelers have a good amount of depth on their roster and started to look like a playoff team towards the end of the season. An improvement in their offensive line is needed and Blalock, who played guard and tackle at Texas, would fit the bill. 16. Green Bay Packers: Marshawn Lynch, RB, LSU - Easy decision for Green Bay. Ahman Green is likely leaving the team and surrounding Favre with young talent could give just enough of a push to make the playoffs in a very weak NFC. 17. Jacksonville Jaguars: Paul Posluszny, LB, Penn State - Aside from the gap at linebacker they have, the Jaguars have a relatively solid team. Posluszny is the real deal and showed that by playing both inside and outside linebacker at Penn State. 18. Cincinatti Bengals: Reggie Nelson, S, Florida - The Bengals would kill for Amobi Okoye and could possibly trade up to get him. But the Bengals do not have a big play safety on their starting roster and Nelson fits that role. 19. Tennessee Titans: Dwayne Jarrett, WR, USC - Having a quarterback like Vince Young is great, but giving him a good receiving option would lessen the load on him. Jarrett is a big target with great hands and the idea of Norm Chow reuniting with Jarrett must make him ecstatic. 20. New York Giants: Darelle Revis, CB, Pittsburgh - The Giants intend to pick up Chargers running back Michael Turner off of free agency rather than draft a running back now. They had a lot of trouble with their pass defense and Revis could be a good fit for them. 21. Denver Broncos: Marcus McCauley, CB, Fresno State - The death of Darrent Williams was a tragic and senseless act. With that said, they need to replace him on the field. 22. Dallas Cowboys: Michael Griffin, S, Texas - Aside from Roy Williams, the Cowboys secondary is horrible. Griffin is the best player in the secondary left at pick 22. 23. Kansas City Chiefs: Sidney Rice, WR, South Carolina - The Chiefs have ignored the WR position for too long, relying on Tony Gonzalez for their receiving needs. However, Tony is getting old and Eddie Kennison will not suffice as a #1 wide receiver much longer. 24. New England Patriots: Daymeion Hughes, CB, California - It is highly unlikely that Bob Kraft will dish out enough money to keep Asante Samuel from testing the free agent market. They need a cornerback to fill the void that he will leave. 25. New York Jets: Jarvis Moss, DE, Florida - Defensively, the Jets need help everywhere. But Jarvis Moss is a monster of a defensive end and will be able to apply more pressure to the quarterback. 26. Philadelphia Eagles: Lawrence Timmons, OLB, Florida State - Timmons could boost the Eagles 26th ranked run defense if he is drafted by them at pick 26. 27. New Orleans Saints: Quentin Moses, DE, Georgia - There's good news and bad news here. The bad news is that every first round worthy cornerback has already been taken, leaving them with Fred Thomas, arguably the worst starting cornerback in the NFL. The good news is that Moses may be the steal of the draft at 27th overall. The Saints have a decent defensive line already. But at only 248 pounds, Moses may be a bit small to play on the defensive line anyway. So he would likely end up being a linebacker and help a Saints run defense that has a hard time stopping outside running plays. 28. New England Patriots: Dwayne Bowe, WR, LSU - It's a bit unfair for another rookie receiver to be picked immediately after they got Chad Jackson last year. But, with Troy Brown on turning 36 before the start of next season, they need another wide receiver and surround Tom Brady with more potent weapons on offense. 29. Baltimore Ravens: Michael Bush, RB, Louisville - It is possible for the Ravens to take a quarterback to keep behind the aging Steve McNair. But Lewis hasn't lived up to expectations ever since he entered the NFL. At some time, you have give up and move on to better things. It's best to get a running back now and hope to pick up Troy Smith or Drew Stanton next round. 30. San Diego Chargers: Robert Meachem, WR, Tennessee - I cannot name a single big-time wide receiver on San Diego. That's because they rely too heavily on Antonio Gates to be their top target. When he's doubled up, you could do worse than throwing to Robert Meachem. 31. Chicago Bears: Greg Olsen, TE, Miami - He and Zach Miller are interchangeable in the top 2 tight ends for this draft. Olsen is built more like Todd Heap and has hand equal or better than his. Zach Miller is more like Jeremy Shockey minus the big mouth. The Bears need a young, mid range threat for Rex to throw to. 32. Indianapolis Colts: DeMarcus Tyler, DT, N.C. State - Booger McFarland couldn't quite do the job in Indianapolis when it came to stopping the run. The Colts were dead last in run defense and their playoff success shouldn't mask their major defensive flaw. |

17. Jacksonville Jaguars: Paul Posluszny, LB, Penn State - Aside from the gap at linebacker they have, the Jaguars have a relatively solid team. Posluszny is the real deal and showed that by playing both inside and outside linebacker at Penn State. [/ QUOTE ] First I just want to say I understand that there is no way you could possibly know every team in and out and the Posluszny pick would not be a bad one. But the Jaguars have Clint Ingram(Rookie) step up and had an amazing year, Daryl Smith(3rd Year) who also was very very good, and Mike Peterson(8 years). Mike Peterson might be a top 3 or 4 MLB in the league, I'm sure he benefits from Stroud and Henderson. Jaguars "gaping" whole is clearly quarterback. Leftwich will most likely be traded(I'm saying 80%), with Garrard being a huge maybe and Quinn...lol at him being a starting QB right now. I doubt the issue will be solved in the first round of the draft for the Jaguars. I think if they needed a pick it would be a safety, Darius is great but he just finished his 9th year and Deion Grant is a liabilty at free safety. Considering how good Brian Williams and Rashean Mathis are the free safety disappoints. Jaguars other options at Free Safety? Dee Webb(decent year) and Ahmad Carrol(former GB first round pick). Oh, they also need a speed reciever, desperately |

By the way, everything I wrote could become BS by the time we even start thinking about the draft. They have alot of cap room and could make some moves where they take care of WR/QB/DB situation. Thinking about the Jags draft now is actually dumb on my part, way to much to happen still.

[ QUOTE ] I never recognized how short Leak was. I knew he was short, but he's a shrimp compared to the other QBs. Chris Leak was the rage immediately after winning the NC, but he's wearing off and showing his flaws. Probably end up being 2nd or 3rd round pick because of the thin field of top quality QBs. [/ QUOTE ] Leak is a good inch taller than Troy Smith. [/ QUOTE ] Height measurements from Senior Bowl Monday: Troy Smith 6' Even Chris Leak 5' 11" 7/8 Chris Leak played poorly and is a second day pick. Smith had an ok week, I could see a team taking a flyer on him in the late 2nd early 3rd. Agreed that Stanton played himself into the #3 QB in Mobile. Too bad John Beck, BYU was snubbed an invite I think he is the 3rd best QB in the draft. |

Height measurements from Senior Bowl Monday: Troy Smith 6' Even Chris Leak 5' 11" 7/8 [/ QUOTE ] I don't buy it. When they met on the field after the game Leak towered over Smith. [ QUOTE ] Chris Leak played poorly and is a second day pick. Smith had an ok week, I could see a team taking a flyer on him in the late 2nd early 3rd. [/ QUOTE ] The fact that either of these guys is going to get drafted before pick 234 is a slap in the face to Joe Hamilton. |

Adam Carriker says hello.
Why do people love Leon Hall so much? He's slow and lacks 1 on 1 cover skills. He's an NFL nickelback, not a top 10 pick. The Bears don't need a tight end. Des Clark was arguably the best tight end in the NFC when you factor in blocking ability. The Bears need depth at OLB/OL/S especially if Lance Briggs is gone. |
