Re: the nazi talk.

Isn't there a clear difference, that Frist has passed legislation to reduce our rights, whereas the avatar is simply using one of those rights (the right to free speech) which Frist probably would also like to restrict as well. I repsect Frist's right to talk about the negatives of poker. I do not respect his actions to strip me of the right to play in my own home, nor my right to talk about him in a poor light as a result of those actions.

Whether you think the Unlawful Internet Gambling Bill is good, bad or indifferent is unimportant. What is important is your vote at the polls this November. Personally since I prefer B&M poker over internet poker this bill will be good for me so I will be voting Republican at every opportunity. You may disagree with my decision and opinion but I am being no more selfish in my perspective than the people who think this bill is a disaster for them personally.

[/ QUOTE ]

Since the internet poker boom led to the B&M poker boom... I think you're wrong. Losing access to easy internet poker play will kill the poker craze. Or at least, cut it off during its growth. Those who stick around will be the better players. And pretty soon you'll have a larger tank of sharks, but a continually reducing school of fish.

But that's ok! You're a republican! Find yourself as many excuses as you can to continue to vote republican. And then sell them to other people as cold, hard fact. Even if you haven't put a lick of thought into the argument.

Very well thought out response BlueTang. I think I can sum your post up in two sentences:

1: You hate Republicans
2. You are the exception to the internet pokerplayer rule

Brevity is a virtue.

[/ QUOTE ]

Actually, what he said was: we're losing our freedoms, one at a time, day after day, because people tend to be very short-sighted, and don't see beyond the immediate implications of losing it.

For what it's worth, I think there's a strong argument to be made to ban on-line gambling. I just don't feel that there's been enough dialogue, or enough research, to jump to a ban.

And as always, there are ulterior motives at play. That you disregard these motives, the methods, or any implications other than upon the one you choose to focus (your 100% certain belief that it will immediately and directly benefit you), is incredibly short-sighted of you. Which is what a majority of Americans are. Probably including myself. That you're ok with this, and don't see how events today have any effect on your world tomorrow (or, specifically, how positively effecting events today could lead to a worse situation later), is dismaying.

So go close your eyes, and vote republican, because it "helps" your B&M gambling scene, and cuts your taxes. And ignore the downword spiral we're all on (which, incidentally, is not entirely product of republicans... they just happen to be in a stretch where they're accelerating the process... and the democrats will gain the senate, and promptly do nothing, because they don't have the answers either. They're still learning how to play politics as well as the republicans).

Peace.

It's really easy for me this election. I hate the Dems as much as the Republicans, and would prefer to vote Libertarian like I did last election cycle. Unfortunately, I'm going to be voting for Dems across the board this year.

Why?

I want gridlock in Congress. Get the Democrats in control of one side of Congress, with the Republicans on the other side, and only the most pressing issues will actually get passed through. No more of this "three men in a room deciding what's best for us" BS. I just want them to get nothing done.

Did I miss the statement? Or will it be packaged in with some other statements and sold at my local bookstore for 29.99?
