Try writing down what you want to say. Like:

"Hi, it's Kyro. I'm calling about Saturday night, would you like to go to XXX for dinner then YYY for drinks?" (Be specific if you cannot improvise well on the phone).

Then you can beg off. You don't have to have a conversation on the phone. You can say either something like "I am in the middle of something but I didn't want to leave you hanging" or "I am on my way out the door" or "I really suck at talking on the phone, I just freeze up, but I don't do that when talking in person."

If you call her on Saturday she may very well have made other plans (hell, she may have by now).

I also dislike talking on the phone to people I don't know particularly well, and I wouldn't do the above. You'll end up sounding unnatural if you try to read a prepared speech. Just figure out more or less what you want to say and call her.

Depending on the exact tone of what was said, this may be true. I think calling her either today or tomorrow is fine. Either way.

PS this shouldn't be that difficult, you already know she's keen to say hi, just call her with that knowledge in mind.

Ringing girls up to actually ASK them if they're keen to meet is worse. I hate doing that.

Well, maybe I'll give her a call tonight, but another reason I was going to wait til Saturday is I've been busy all week. I was tutoring last night, and tonight my evil mom is making me scrub floors. I won't get home til a little bit later and she had said she'll be with friends later tonight, so I don't want to call her then. Tomorrow PSU is playing Michigan, and there is no chance I miss that game, so I said I'd call her after?
