SO what is the plan now for Taylor holders? I sold 20 of my shares at 65 on Wed morning to lock in a profit. I'm now sitting on 40 Taylor shares. Should I sell them all at 65, sell perhaps half and ride the rest to the end, or hold them all till the end? Or maybe wait until after next Tues night to see how the performances/dialidol goes?

I honestly think Taylor is going to win, but I'm not sure about risking 65 to win 35 at this point.

That's exactly what I was thinking. First year betting on Idol for me and I have only Taylor left for more than I'm comfortable wagering on a silly show like AI. What are some viable options?

There aren't a whole lot of options here. If you are risking more than you want to, either sell some Taylor or buy some Kat. If your bets are in the WSEX trading market, you can sell Taylor shares and get money out right now. Otherwise, just shop for the best price you can find if you don't mind waiting for a week to get your money out. WSEX futures (not market) has Kat 2-1 now. I haven't seen anything better this morning.

If you only want to have $100 of your bankroll decided by a couple singers and 50M phone calls, then sell/cover all but 1 share of Taylor. Or 10 shares for $1000. Whatever. Adjust to your personal risk level.

If you are interested in covering your bets, I would guess think that now is the right time to do at least most of your hedging. There's not a lot of room for upside potential until the final vote. Even if Taylor has a great show on Tuesday, I don't see how he can get much higher than 70, or maybe 75. Conversely, if Kat clearly outshines Taylor in the finale, the prices could easily flip-flop to put Kat at 60 or so going into the results show.

I was just looking at my future statement on WSEX and its pretty amazing that I will be able to turn a profit despite all of these terrible early decisions.

Grannie asked earlier how I hadn't broken even yet. This is why.. inexperience and early stupidity!

They started taking bets at the Top 24. I can't remember what Taylor's original price was, I'm thinking he was perhaps 11 or so. My average price was 16 for 60 shares, because I didn't buy them all in the beginning.

Yeah, if you look at it like a mutual fund, you only need one or 2 winners to make it profitable. I lost on Paris and Elliott but Taylor more than makes up for it. I think the key is to pick out high-priced favorites early on, who you think CAN'T win. This year for me those were Chris, Ace, and Kat. Obviously I've been wrong about Kat so far.

I know alot of people cashed in on Chris, but I bet just as many lost a boat load. I am curious as to how much people lost on him.

so if i had bought 90 shares @11 for taylor, then i coulda sold 45@22 and had 45 free-rolling shares, good for 4500 if he wins (or 3k if i cashed out now; likely due to him not having 65% chance of winning; more like 60%)

You guys trying to decide on what to do with your shares, go to www.timesdispatch.com (that's the paper here in Richmond) and go through the recent American Idol articles and most importantly, comments.

Most comments are naturally about Elliott, but every 3rd or 4th mentions the remaining contestants and is interesting...

Elliott fans hate Kat. Much more than I ever expected. Really hate her. Like "put her cat in the freezer" hate her.

Just a view from a non-strictly AI forum.

Jesse
