[ QUOTE ]
it's not HIS responsibility to make the poker world free of corruption. [/ QUOTE ] True. The responsibility is everyone's: players, backers, dealers, floormen, casinos, authors, promoters.... I don't envy anyone having to make these difficult decisions, but if you play the game long enough, you will be forced to. Since I love the game and want to see it thrive both live and online, I have made the decision that I will report cheating no matter who. Believe it or not, getting a cheater kicked out might just improve or save their lives. [ QUOTE ] This is so wrong. N 82 is under no obligation--moral, practical or otherwise--to inform Pokerstars of anything. [/ QUOTE ] What? Don't you like the game of poker? Why would you help undermine the integrity of the game by inaction? Especially when it is so simple to send an email (e.g. you do not need to confront a dealer who may be an accomplice or tell a friend to stop or turn them in?) |

In other words you will let others elaborate ... go figure
My view on this is, that yes ZJ cheated .... ok, it was bound to happen that somebody cheats, there are millions of people playing poker, they are not all gonna be saints. If it for example had been a small stakes player, that had been caught playing six accounts in a 20$ buyin tourney, then nobody would have noticed But it is ZJ and so it is a BIG DEAL Is it a big deal ?? Yes it is Is it a big deal because we now must go beserk and hate ZJ, go witchhunting and finally start giving technical support to STARS and PARTY No .. That is part fun, part trolling and part many other things. The big deal here as EL D and others have said is, that STARS seem to be passive, which is scary as hell. Suddenly all talk about anti collusion software and what gives that can be found on most sites pages seems to fade into obscurity The reason that we ask N to formulate some examples on how to 'cheat' is NOT to help STARS prevent cheating, but to expose if STARS actually are doing anything actively to prevent cheating. WHY ??? Because if STARS (or any other site, stars just being a random example of a site in this post) turn the blind eye to possibilities of cheating, then my friend ZJ is not the one buttf...king us, it is STARS ! So yes we need El D to mail stars saying, we suspect that there are such and such possibilities to cheat the system, what measure do you take? Not to help out Stars, but to expose their security .. maybe STARS are on it, maybe not .. but if they cannot protect their customers or at least do their best to do so, then they are our main concern and not ZJ's, since cheaters are always there and part of the rake as EL D have said. Cmon .. do not compare Stars to the police, stars is a multimillion dollar industry that can afford the best programmers in the world, no need to pick on random programmers and say that they have to contribute to stars |

Jeremy, It is provably impossible to prevent multiple instances from running. [/ QUOTE ] It is not impossible at all. It is quite easy. I've done it with programs I've written. Well, technically the second+ instance starts, it just exits immediately upon detection of an already running instance. |

[/ QUOTE ] William, seriously...where were you when the El Cap thing broke? Could it be you are friendlier with Noah (or that Noah is just plain more likeable and smooth) than with Justin and you let him get a walk in your moral visor? If you really think all the issues contained in this thread exist in a black-and-white dimension, it is you missing the complete picture. |

[ QUOTE ]
More pathetic excuses shaniac about how you or no one else is obligated to others to try to protect them from cheating when you easily could. Just because you choose to be friends with and protect the identities of uncaught cheaters who will be stealing from posters of 2+2 tomorrow and day after, don't try say others shouldn't stand up and be men and help where they can where you won't. [/ QUOTE ] BluffTHIS!, I don't agree with the way you're attacking shaniac or curtains. Both are free to make their decisions and their decision to not rat out a friend is okay by me as well as with many of the posters that I see on here. I too have been faced with this dilemma. I did not and will not report information told to me in confidence. This regards people cheating online poker, my friends cheating on girlfriends, a husband cheating on his wife, a neighbor stealing from his office or anything else. Unless it's a REALLY extreme circumstance, like someone getting killed and I know who the murderer is, I won't rat someone out. Stealing from an arena where it's well-known that stealing goes on constantly is not an extreme situation in my opinion. I'm aware you feel otherwise and I respect your right to feel that way. Just please understand that not everyone takes that stance. |
