Gelford,

Sorry about the life beats. I'm crossing my fingers for you but I hope you will be able to move up to NL50 soon. Your style probably works best there with regard to risk/reward.

Ok so If the only way I can win this hand is by betting, since Im prolly behind if I check, does that make it necessarly a bluff?

thinking about it, If I were the villain playing against me, Id insta call the river with JJ+. I never have any aces there lol. so thats makes it a spew/bluff lol

[/ QUOTE ]

Bluff .. yes ... spew ... dunno ?

Thx Trigger ... and no, I don't play 25NL like I play higher necesarily, I've been running a modest 18/16 game today ... just been shown a [censored] amount of sets ... that happens.

I've actually played better than for a long time ... go figure.

Btw, the life beat isn't that big a deal .... I won't go broke, it is more a matter of pride ... paying my own bills, but we are a two income household (actually with me relying on poker, we are only a one income household ... errr ... lol)

Kimo, I never really understood this merging ranges nonsesne, but suddenly looking at your hand, I kinda see it...I think...

...ok, just scrolled back up to the hand and I can't see it now.

Er. Erm. Or do I? Maybe it's just a classic bluff as we're beaten by anything that calls?

But I suppose have we merged our range in a situation where we might be vb'ing or bluffing and he...erm.

Ahhm. WTF.

Hope that clears things up. PM for coaching.

What I mean is that you are able to spot when someone is bluffing and at NL50 most villians will happyly bluff but then back down if confronted with someone with bigger balls. At NL25 as well as at higher limits more villians will continue with the hand (for entirely different reasons).

True ... I usually do very good in balls size contests ... heh

25NL is such a wierd place, all they do is call. which makes it insanely profitable as long as you don't run into sets all the time.

Rangemerging is nothing mystical. There are some spots on the river, where

1. Some villians might call you with a weaker hand
2. Some villians might fold a better hand

You do not know what kind of villian you are against ... so you bet ...

This bet is a mistake if against some vilians, but since you do not know what kind of villian you are against, it suddenly becomes a good play. This is due to the fact that there is value in those villians that act like described above.

you go tru a calculation like this:

EV=%Villian will call a worse hand + %villian will fold a better hand - %villian will call a better hand and never a worse

The alternative is to check, but then villian might either check behind or bet, in which case you might fold the better hand ... etc

It is really nothing that important, and just a good excuse to be aggro, which is always good
