[ QUOTE ]
I think your flop aggression is too high and your river aggression too low. It looks like you are betting and raising EVERY flop. That can only be good when you play a VERY tight game. But then still not really. I think you need to think more about what you are trying to accomplish on the flop. Esp. because your aggression decreases a lot on the next street which looks like you fire every flop and then shut down or something. Looks weird. And you probably don't value-bet enough on the river.

[/ QUOTE ]

I DO play a tight game over those hands (17/14 or so), but I still think the decrease in aggression is too big. CBetting less in itself won't lower the agression (as it's calculated as (bet+raise)/call), should I be calling more bets on the flop?

Valuebetting more turns + rivers is something that I need to work on too, I guess.

Piet, my street by street aggression factors are very similar to yours, but I do not think they are a problem at 50nl or 100nl for me. I basically just never call the flop, which is why I too have such a big discrepency. I cbet nearly all the time and reraise with position often on the flop in certain spots.

I am planning my future with rakeback and was wondering if someone could clear up a few things for me:

1) Say you have 30% rakeback, how is it calculated? Is it the rake collected every hand divided by the number of players i.e. rake is $6, 6 players therefore $1 each, 30% therefore 30c rakeback on that hand - or is rakeback only calculated on the pots you win, e.g. pot is raked at $4, 30% rake, therefore 1$20c in rakeback?

2) How much bb/100 can you expect to make with rakeback? What $/100 can you expect to make at 25NL?

Thanks

1) Rake $6, 6players, $1/players, 30% = 30c rakeback.

2) in 61K hands on FTP NL50 (27%RB), I made about $800 in rakeback. You do the math (too lazy right now )

Edit: smileys is hard

Yesterday I was lecturing about how non-soft party poker was. Here is another illustrative hand.

Well, there is the concept of pot control that should keep you from betting and raising every flop and might make you call a bet or two because you have good showdown value but want to play a smaller pot. When you bet and raise every flop you obviously have the idea that you have to take down every pot at the flop. That is certainly not true. Calling down in a few spots is often mistaken for slowplaying a mediocre hand and gets flamed on the forums. But slowplaying and calling for pot control are two different things. It's those times where a bet or raise doesn't really accomplish anything, because it probably can't win you any money, because when you are called or raised, you are most certainly behind. This situation can occur often when you are oop with an overpair or TPTK against an aggressive player who will bet the flop and turn with every PP but won't call unless he has a strong hand. So his betting range is much wider than his calling range. So why should you keep yourself from playing against a wider range against which you got better equity for (comparably) small bets and instead invest much more money to narrow his range to hands against which you have much less equity?
Aba talks a little bit about this in that promo video on cardplayer that is linked approx. 100 posts above in this thread.

My days at $100nl seem to start off with my losing 2 or 3 buyins and thinking 'this is actually hard'. Then something like this happens and I'm reminded that poker is EZ...

Full Tilt Poker - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $0.50/$1 Blinds - 6 Players - (LegoPoker HH Converter)

Hero (SB): $99.90
BB: $455.95
UTG: $132.30
MP: $34.50
CO: $105.70
BTN: $101.80

Preflop: Hero is dealt A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (6 Players)
UTG calls $1.00, MP calls $1.00, CO folds, BTN calls $1.00, Hero raises to $7.00, BB folds, UTG raises to $24.00, 2 folds, Hero calls $17.00

Flop: ($51) 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 Players)
Hero checks, UTG bets all-in for $108.30, Hero calls all-in for $75.90
Uncalled bet of $32.40 returned to UTG

Turn: ($202.80) 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 Players - 2 All-In)

River: ($202.80) 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 Players - 2 All-In)

Pot Size: $202.80 ($3 Rake)

UTG had J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (two pair, Sixes and Fives) and LOST (-$99.90)
Hero had A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (two pair, Aces and Sixes) and WON (+$99.90)

Final 100NL Trip Report

Oh well, back to 50NL for Monkeyboy after this morning's 100NL session. Lost 4.5BI's and I absolutely hate how I played each big hand I lost, despite thinking I had a reason at the time to play each this way. The other 1.5BI's I lost were standard small ball attrition.

I feel sick lol. Anyway, back to the Micros with a battered roll and a horrible sense that I can beat 100NL if I just stopped being an idiot.

..........................................

Villain 24/14/8. Missed my flop c/r as I put him squarely on AK/KK/QQ/JJ given preflop. Oh Jesus this is soooooo sick...his preflop is a joke and my turn bet is a million miles beyond a joke...I just didn't know what to do when the K came down. Horrible
