[ QUOTE ]
[Eric B, Juice] - the beat's sick too
A brand new morn, no time to yawn
Shower’s on, power’s on
Late for school, I catch the train
Girls sip cristal and whisper my name
I push up like an exercise,
Check the intellect and inspect the thighs
Select the best one, pull her to the side
Keep her occupied for the rest of the ride
Read my resume she’s know I’m ’ready cool
Just meet me after school,
We can moan and groan until your mom come home ,
And you be calling me al dope capone.
Sweatin’ me, she didn’t want to let me loose-
Come get me, that’s if you want to sip the juice
Cause the streets await me, so I take my gun off safety
Cause alot of niggaz hate me
Coming out of the building, they set me up
Sprayed wit automatics, they wet me up
In a puddle of blood, I lay close to the edge
I guess I didn’t know the ledge.....

[/ QUOTE ]

wait a second, you honestly thought that was Eric B??

How about this verse from basically every single Dr. Dre song?

Did I fall off? Got you in your room
rippin every "Chronic" poster on your wall off
Just cause I put away the sawed off
Now I got you sittin back with a smirk
listening with your arms crossed
Questionin Dre's credibility {What?}
Wondering if it's still in me to produce hits;
Y'all be killin me
As if I need to make mo' - I got a mansion
and six cars that I paid fo' - suck my dick!
We came a long way from not givin a [censored]
Sellin tapes out of a trunk to movin this far up
Now we got the whole world starstruck
Made a million plus and still don't give a motherfuck
[censored] I'm Dre - I don't need your respect
I don't need to make another album bitch I don't gotta do [censored]
I do it because I want to not to stay in the game
[censored] the fame, I'm still stayin the same, lil' bitch!

Guys,

Those who haven't heard Ghostface's verse on Tony/Montana off of Cormega's Legal Hustle album need to listen to it. Then we can stop this silly thread and realize that it's either AZ's verse off Life's a Bitch or Ghost's verse that clearly win the title of best ever.

Sincerely,
FoxwoodsFiend

Default Thread Summary

I feel that people should get some credit for their good picks here and some should get flamed for their awful picks. The following people should be ashamed for their submissions:

Siccjay: the Em verse from Say What You Say is decent, but to think of it as anything spectacular is ridiculous.

Igas: that Em freestyle is pretty whack, and I highly doubt was really freestyled.

applejuicekid: that is a horrible Nas verse. Terrible rhyme scheme, contrived metaphors, and overly grandiose attempts to paint themes of ghetto life. Minus points.

PatrickDuffy: AWFUl Wayne verse. Why is it that every line put in bold in this whole thread is awful?
"Don't chase the feelin baby girl let it come to you" and

"I'ma offense coordinator run and shoot
You watch your grill what you ought to do
Fore' your ribs get barbecued"?!?

What is so memorable about these awful, strained attempts at doing somtehing clever? That first line isn't even interesting at all, just pure filler.

Also, you managed to choose one of the only Fabolous verses I don't love, again highlighting awful lines.
"I spend big, at any time I can start splurging
The twin SIGs open chests like a heart surgeon"

Wow, what a clever analogy! Clearly worth bolding.

"I throw bread around just to turn pigeons on"

So sweet the way he mixes two of the most overused double-meanings in rap! BOLD IT!

"Long as I keep toting I'm fine
I'ma have these d*ck sucking niggaz deep-throating the nine"
ooh, so hard

JESUS CHRIST: I just saw another awful verse with awful lines in bold, and it was you again Duffy! Hip Hop Quotables?!? WHAT THE HELL? There are like 3 good lines in that whole cheesy/stupid song. I like the "I'll clock ya" line but the rest of the song is basically just a poorly organized string of crappy one-liners. Blind dates with actual blind people! OMG ROFLLMAO!

DoubleDown: You might be the only person in history to like Mosh. I'll look into this.

P.S. I actually really like Eminem, but it's like you guys went out of your way to pick his worst stuff.

Jules22, way to keep up the "bold the crappy lines" theme. "Put your bifocal on, watch me a-cometh
into your chamber like Freddy enter dream
Discombumberate your technique and your scheme"
Total nonsense.
"Cut you like a blunt and reconstruct your design
I know you want to diss me, but I can read your mind "
Hopefully the awfulness of this line is readily apparent.

That Kill that Fagg0t verse was mediocre, and the lines you bolded were predictably awful (wow, the blunt is his prayer rug. SICK)

Gary Stevenson: not an awful verse by any stretch of the imagination, but this is not Jay's 20th best verse, it's just catchy.

pryor: Songs that you liked when you were young and unsophisticated are not necessarily still good. That "I wish I was a little bit taller" song is played out.

WackityWhiz: tell me you're joking. Please. I don't want to consider the possibility that somebody finds that "Shake that Ass" anything other than nauseating.
"Showin I was dehydrated till the beat vibrated
I was revibed as soon as this Bitch gyrated"
THAT'S the line you love?!? Jesus christ. Are you some mindless club-hopping e-dropping moron? I can't imagine getting so excited about a line that's basically "I was thirsty until this girl started dancing." How can that possibly be interesting?

A S U: a funny skit from a classic Rap album shouldn't be on here. I assume you were joking. At least you didn't bold the set-up questions or some other retarded [censored] like the people mentioned above.

Props:
Dickie Manley: that Pun line sounds really sweet in the song, but it's not exactly one of the more clever lines in rap history. As for the Shook Ones verse, it's clearly a classic but I feel that the rap scheme/flow are too simple to warrant mention as one of the best ever. Good thoughts though.

TheOcho: fantastic pick

marchron: I think this is Em's best song and since there's no chorus, it's a blazing 3-minute verse. Great pick.

IronDragon1: excellent verse, but I don't even consider it among the 15 greatest Wu verses. You can't really go wrong with it, but I feel that there are better out there.

ClassicBob: that verse I don't think is as good as the 2nd one on the song (NY State of Mind), but both are so amazing that they're clearly in contention. nice pick.

NeedsMoreNuts: nice pick. Xzibit is underrated and this verse has always been a favorite.

UprightCitizen: great pick. That stillborn line is a classic.

thatpfunk: that "freestyle" of Biggie's is ridiculous. Even better when you hear it...it's so raw.

wdead: GREAT PICK with the AZ. Good to hear OOT disappoints you, CONSIDERING SNOWDEN AND I ALREADY PICKED IT EARLIER IN THE THREAD!

protocal: good pick. I think Em's verse is hotter on that song, but Biggie's verses are clearly sick.

Sharktank: Good pick from Halftime. I feel that most Illmatic verses would be in consideration (except for The World Is Mine and One Time For Your Mind).

LBJ: nice pick. I think this is some of Em's more authentic/sympathetic rhyming. I would nominate his verses from Rock Bottom before this, but it's definitely in the discussion.

Kanman: Nice Big Pun pick. I feel that not enough people appreciate him, as I just recently got into his stuff.

Some of these verses I didn't read and haven't heard so I apologize if I missed some props.

[ QUOTE ]
cappadonna on winter warz, from ghostface killahs album "Ironman"

[Verse Four: Cappadonna]
You heard of the rasp before but kept waitin
for the sun of song, I keep dancehalls strong
Beats never worthy of my cause, I prolong
Extravangza, time sits still
No propoganda, be wary of the skill
As I bring forth the music, make love to your eardrum
Dedicated to rap nigga beware of the fearsome
Lebanon Don, Malcolm X beat threat
CD massacre, murder to cassette
I blow the shop up, you ain't seen nuttin yet
One man ran, tryin to get away from it
Put your bifocal on, watch me a-cometh
into your chamber like Freddy enter dream
Discombumberate your technique and your scheme
Four course applause, like a black dat to dat
You're stuck on stupid like I'm stuck on the map
Nowhere to go except next show bro
Entertainin MFERS can't stop O
in battlin, you don't want me to start tattlin
All upon the stage cause y'all snakes keep rattlin
Bitch, you ain't got nothin on the rich
Every other day my whole dress code switch
So just in case you want to clock me like Sherry
All y'all crab bitches ain't got to worry
Can't get a nigga like Don dime a dozen
Even if I'm smoked out I can't be scoped out
I'm too ill, I represent Park Hill
See my face on the twenty dollar bill
Cash it in, and get ten dollars back
The fat LP with Cappachino on the wax
Pass it in your think, put valve up to twelve
Put all the other LP's back on the shelf
And smoke a blunt, and dial 9-1-7
1-6-0-4-9-3-11
And you could get long dick hip-hop affection
I damage any MC who step in my direction
I'm Staten Island's best son [censored] what you heard
Niggaz still talkin that SH1T is absurd

My repotoire, is U.S.S.R.
P.L.O. style got thrown out the car
and ran over, by the Method Man jeep
Divine can't define my style is so deep
like pussy, my low cut fade stay bushy
like a porcupine, I part backs like a spine
Cut you like a blunt and reconstruct your design
I know you want to diss me, but I can read your mind

Cuz you weak in the knees, like SWV
Tryin to get a title like Wu Killa Bee
Kid change your habit, you know I'm friends with the Abbott
Me and RZA ridin name printed in the tablet
under vets, we paid our debts for mad years
Hibernate the sound, and now we out like beers
and blunt power, born physically power speakin
The truth in the song be the pro-black teachin

[/ QUOTE ]

nothing else is ever close. I think I rewound this about 15 times the first time I heard it. Sick.

[ QUOTE ]

Cappadonna on "Winter Warz" - can't really be considered one of the best ever, but it's great. What got into him when he did this verse? Nothing he's done since can even compare.
AZ on "Life's a Bitch" - Amazing. It's like the verse he had building up inside him his whole life, if that makes any sense.

[/ QUOTE ]

The pillage wasn't bad at all and he has other decent guest spots. I always liked Cappadonna.

However you are correct because he hasn't ever come close to that verse again. However, no one else has either.

Are you joking?

"[g]ut you like a blunt and reconstruct your design" is one of the sickest lines I have ever heard in rap history.

You are really awful at being a rap know it all

What do you think of Inspectah Deck's verse on Guillotine (off of Raekwons Cuban Linx):

"Poisonous paragraphs, smash ya phonograph
in half, it be the Inspectah Deck on the warpath
First class leavin mics with a cast
Causin ruckus like the aftermath when guns blast
Run fast, here comes the verbal assaulta
Rhymes runnin wild like a child in a walker
I scored from the inner slums abroad
And my thoughts are razor sharp I sliced the mic from the cord
First they criticize, but now they have become
mentally paralyzed with hits that I devise
Now I testify, the rest is I, Rebel INS
Ya highness, blessed to electrify
with voltage of an eel, truth that I reveal'll
crush the amateurs who screamed to keep it real
Caesar black down hoodied up and fatigues
Part time minor leagues receive third degrees
Attack like a wolf pack, once I pull back
then guard you, and bust through like a fullbac"

or RZA's verse on 4th Chamber (off of Liquid Swords):

"Aiyyo, camoflouge chameleon, ninjas scalin your buildin
No time to grab the gun they already got your wife and children
A hit was sent, from the President, to rage your residence
Because you had secret evidence, and documents
on how they raped the continents, and it's the prominent
dominant Islamic, Asiatic black hebrew
The year two thousand and two, the battle's filled with the Wu
Six million devils just died from the Bubonic Flu
Or the Ebola Virus, under the reign of King Cyrus
You can see the weakness of a man right through his iris
Un-loyal snakes get thrown in boilin lakes
of hot oil, it boils your skin, chickenheads gettin slim
like Olive Oyl, only plant the seed deep inside fertile soil
Fortified with essential, vitamin and minerals
Use the sky for a blanket, stuffin clouds inside my pillow
Rollin with the lambs
Twelve tribes a hundred and forty four thousand chosen
Protons Electrons Always Cause Explosions"
