Regarding cheese: Do not take it straight out of cold storage and slap it on your sandwich. The fats in the cheese (that give it its flavor) must be liquid or very close to it to be enjoyed properly. Room temperature or warmer is the key.

Notice warm mayo is tastier than cold? Same idea...

For fish sandwiches (say like Opah, which is awesome, or grilled Salmon or something) I like putting this stuff on as a spread.

Mustard Dill sauces, Honey Dill, this [censored] is good.

If anyone makes it to Pittsburgh any time soon, the Primanti Brothers sandwich is a must: My favorite is grilled capacola and cheese. Each meat/cheese combo is topped with tomatos, cole slaw, and french fries on freshly baked bread. Primanti's basically pwns every other sandwich in human history:

i don't know about this adding french fries to sandwiches thing. they're great on the side...but i don't want the starchy potato flavor getting in the way of what was originally a tasty live animal...along with other various parts...

As you're eating the sandwich, flip it over every so often. You'll taste whichever side is on the bottom MUCH more strongly, so if you flip it over it's like a new sandwich.

For example, I have bread-mustard-roastbeef-ham-swiss-bread.

I'll start with the mustard/roastbeef side on my tongue and take a few bites. Yum, mustard and roast beef with a hint of ham and cheese. Then I flip it over and suddenly it's a ham and cheese with some roast beef and a nice hint of mustard.

genius.

my spin on the above is to turn the sandwich inside out, bread on the inside filling on the out side.

takes practice but its worth it

Also, on the ice cream thing - try using a wooden or a plastic spoon - the metallic taste interferes with the ice cream.

Ugh...the only time I could eat there was at like 4am after work. I think the strip one used to be open 24 hrs. A damn good sandwich though, it's not for everyone.
