There is no way possible Chris Leak is a top 10 pick\. I'll make a sizable wager.
Also, Rhema McKnight will not be a 1st round pick. To have him in front of Meachem is silly. |

I can't see Leak being a top 10 pick more or less a first day pick. He had a solid NC game but his career hasn't been anything that special at Florida. He has a decent arm and he's accurate but nothing special. He's short as well (6 foot). I'd be willing to put a wager with anyone on this board (I'll give odds) on Leak getting picked that early. I don't think it's possible especially by the Vikings who just drafted a QB on the first day last year.

[ QUOTE ] Who do the Cardinals take at #5 if Joe Thomas is gone? Trade down? [/ QUOTE ] Charlie, did the Cards front office change this offseason (meaning Whiz will have more input) or is it the same GM as before? [/ QUOTE ] Rod Graves is still there but he is more of a sounding board and deals with contracts etc, he has a bit more pull on FA signings but in the end will always take the back seat to the head coach. Ever since Green arrived...the final descion on draft picks has been with the head coach. So it will be Wiz and Grimm's call in terms of who to take. |

Who do the Cardinals take at #5 if Joe Thomas is gone? Trade down? [/ QUOTE ] Trade down depends on who's on the board. If Thomas, Johnson, Quinn & Russell are all of the board, they probably won't get enough value in a trade. Maybe somebody who wants to jump ahead of Washington for Gaines Adams/Jamal Anderson. If no trade go for Gaines Adams/Jamal Anderson to upgrade the pass rush. |

Better chance that Mason Crosby, K, Colorado goes in the first round than Leak or McKnight.
Leak is short and inconsistant. McKnight was doing his best Reche Caldwell inpersonation in Mobile, dropping every ball in site. |

If Whiz follows the Cowher tradition it will be BPA at a position of need even if that player seems like a reach. Somehow I doubt they would pick Brown though. They may try and move up for Thomas, I think they only move down if someone gives them a reasonable offer and I don't know who has the need+draft capital to make that work. I could see them going DT or LB in the first and OL in the second or third if that's where they think the value clusters lie.

Well, the College Football All-Star Challenge just ended on ESPN.
We get to see at least bits and pieces of the NFL draft prospects at work. Players participated: Robert Meachem, WR, Tennessee Kenny Irons, RB, Auburn Darius Walker, RB, Notre Dame Greg Olsen, TE, Miami (FL) Troy Smith, QB, Ohio State Chris Leak, QB, Florida Drew Standton, QB, Michigan State Jared Zabransky, QB, Boise State Mason Crosby, K, Colorado Justin Medlock, K, UCLA John Vaughn, K, Auburn Andrew Wellock, K, Eastern Michigan Drew Stanton has moved to #3 in the QB list for most and I'm inclined to agree based upon his performance in his accuracy and mobility contests. Very impressive. I never recognized how short Leak was. I knew he was short, but he's a shrimp compared to the other QBs. Chris Leak was the rage immediately after winning the NC, but he's wearing off and showing his flaws. Probably end up being 2nd or 3rd round pick because of the thin field of top quality QBs. Greg Olsen very likely moved ahead of Zach Miller (though I haven't seen the latter yet). Greg Olsen has outstanding hands. During the receiving competition, he was moving so fast that he started to call out for the balls to be placed in the machine and launched faster. His form was excellent. A lot of this can be taken with a grain of salt since we saw a very limited sample size of a select amount of players performance. But it did give some insight into some draft prospects. |

[/ QUOTE ] Yes, but Troy Smith can compensate his size through his mobility and scrambling abilities, thus not being forced to see over his huge offensive linemen. If Doug Flutie, who was 5 foot 7 inches tall, was a Bernie Kosar-type pocket passer, he never would have survived in the NFL unless they allowed stepstools so he could see over his offensive linemen. |
