Speaking of crazy arguments, this cuts both ways --
Has the word "alcohol" been mentioned? I've been wondering if the dems should take the opportunity to strawman this as much as possible, and keep asking if they'll be coming for alcohol next. It just seems like a golden opportunity to strawman something that people really care about. |

The party who is supposedly for less government, and always speaks of citizens being better able to make decisions for themselves rather than the government telling them what is best, has somehow switched gears - thinking internet gambling is beyond their ability to know enough might be too much.
As for terroists laundering funds: Hogwash. Every transaction that takes place through the ACH/EFT network is checked against the FBI database. Most of the time Barney Frank makes me ill. This is a rare time where he is actually the voice of reason. |

He's against this bill because he believes ALL Internet gambling should be banned. That's why he has the amendment to take out the horseracing and Internet lottery carve-outs.

A bit of a straw man, yes, but it fundamentally undermines a handful of the arguments of the supporters. |

There are beer/liquor/wine distributors in every congressional district in the country. And they are very active politically. |
