[ QUOTE ]
I am officially putting this out there for the entire rest of the month of July: If anyone sees me playing either more than 5 tables at any one given time and/or more than 2 tables of 100NL at any given time, I will pay you $25 on Full Tilt. I'm dead serious...I've found that my game just is not nearly as good once I play that 6th table. I don't know why that is, but it seems I just can't do well once I open that 6th table, regardless of how soft the game(s) is/are. TIA. [/ QUOTE ] I make a similar pledge about needless moaning in the brew. I give myself latitude to post interesting/marginal losing hands or TR hands during shot-taking. But any self-pitying moaning = $25 on Stars/Party to the spotter. Indefinite time frame. |

After a horrible Monday where I swore off cash games for a week--lasted one day!--I'm running good again. About an $80 swing in just three days playing maybe 1.5k hands in 5/10NL. 8 winning sessions in a row. Now I must keep it up so I can friggin move up to 25NL sometime in my life.

I've been working on my hand reading skills (as I constantly am) and I've been trying a fun exercise (for poker nerds) that's been pretty educational. I took the 3 players from today that showed down the most hands, went through all the hands they showed down and took notes. I was amazed at how much I miss when multitabling, but it gave me some good ideas of what to look for. For example, just going through 15 hands from one player I was able to make the following notes:
Will call with any ace in any position even for a raise BVB: will make small stabs w/ < TP, check down stronger air hands (NPND): checks down Weak hands (less than TP): will call small bets, make small bets Medium hand (TPWK type hands): Will make small (min-1/2 psb), call big raises Big hands (TPTK or better): check/calls until river, bets 2/3-full pot on river or will make small leads/minraises And now I have a new buddy list guy that I know how to exploit mercilessly. |

Doing that to tougher regs is part of my daily post-session routine. Works wonders.
Also, brag: +15 buyins at NL100 in the last 3k hands. Absolutely sick. |

One of my busto friends follows the WSOP updates fairly often throughout this year's WSOP events. Tonite, he sent me this hilarious update at the main event... take a look.
It's perhaps a bit surprising that this sort of thing doesn't happen more often, but still -- the player at Table 24, Seat 3 moved all in with {A-Spades}{9-Diamonds} and was called by Jimmy Blevins holding {K-Spades}{Q-Spades}. The {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} flop gave both players a pair, but on the turn Blevins hit the {K-Hearts} to make trips. At which point the player facing elimination slammed his fist down on the table so hard that it made the chips on the table jump. And then, when the {10-Spades} hit the river and he knew he'd been eliminated, he LIFTED THE ENTIRE TABLE UP OFF THE GROUND and sent the chips and cards scattering all over the place. The players were able to protect their chips to keep them from spilling into a great messy pile, and the player who lost the hand was quickly removed from the table. The security cameras caught the whole episode, and from what we've heard he's going to be paid out, and then escorted from the building. We're not mentioning his name because we want to make 300 percent sure we have the right name (the players at his table weren't sure) and we don't want to libel the innocent. |
