Hmmm I'm quitting poker, got some money left, that should last me a year or so. And I'm going to focus on school, yeah I've said it a couple of times... but I'm serious now. I really want to stop playing this game !

I did that twice already...

If you are REALLY serious about it, get rid of your books. Best is to sell them.
Wanna make a list? I'm interested in books about Omaha and the PL/NL-Book by Reuben&Ciaffone.

Good luck kabouter. Any parting wisdom?

Good bankroll management is king, don't move up and tilt of your losses (probably lost around 2k because of that)

No it's bob ross, the happy painter, but I do resemble him some what (my personality that is, I don't posses a beard, nor an afro, and I'm 22 )

And no I'm not taking sidebets, cause I'm pretty sure I will lose .

The reason why I am quitting is:

- takes up too much time, not going as far as saying it is taking over my life though
- in 2 years I should be a lawyer, and hence make a couple of bucks. In the long run putting more time in school is more +EV I guess.
- I'm going to study abroad in half a year, so I want to lay down the poker blunt and enjoy my studying abroad.
- And what am I doing it for? I've got everything I want, sure I could use an even bigger tv,expensive clothes, etc... but I am already spoiled, I still got 8k in my account that I'm probably going to put in a savings account for emergencies or something :P.

Sure I will still be playing a bit, but it will be at 50nl, and recreational I hope. I might also take the big MTT route though, seems rather profitable .

I don't have any poker books . Or you mean my school books, cause that doesn't sound like a good idea.

Today was a very good day for me:

Morning session: finally my hands held up. I got it in with KK preflop and weren't up against AA and didn't get sucked out on etc. etc. Result: +4.3 BIs. Roll sittin' at $1,985 but I have only won 7 BIs lifetime on 50NL in less than 15K hands or so. So I'm not confident.

Late afternoon: I decide to play some $10 PLO 6max, because I want to pick up that game a little bit. I run decent and finish up 2 BIs. Roll sittin' at $2,003

Afterwards: I think: what the hell, I'm not gonna be a nit foreva, I take a 3 buy-in shot. If I lose them I'm back to the start from like 4 days ago and I can grind those 50NL BIs that I think I need for my confidence then still. So whatever. And I still need 25 FT-Points for the iron man challenge for today.
So I take a shot at 100NL 6max, 2tabling. I run break-even on one table and stack a half stack with KK vs TT on the other. Then I win 1/4th of a buyin with top 2. Then one table breaks and I'm way over my time limit for the session, getting tired and friends are soon coming over. So I quit with my biggest winning day of $300.

I hope this motivates some of you or demoralizes those of you who actually play better than me and decide to quit now

Here's a graph. PLO hands are missing, obv.

After clearing Party bonus i went to FTP. And i gotta say that FTP seems much softer ATM. Party had sh*itloads of floaters, and getting your CB raised seemed to be the norm. On Party i did'nt see 85/15 berating 65/7 for playing like an idiot.

Here is a cool bit from today:

Full Tilt Poker
No Limit Holdem Ring game
Blinds: $0.25/$0.50
6 players
Converter

Stack sizes:
UTG: $41.45
UTG+1: $48.95
CO: $0
Button: $26.50
SB: $34.95
Hero: $54.45

Pre-flop: (6 players) Hero is BB with A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
2 folds, Button calls, SB calls, Hero raises to $3, 2 folds.
Uncalled bets: $2.5 returned to Hero.

SB:

SB: haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
SB: what is up with u fools over betting your hands
SB: stupidity
SB: al in
SB: all
SB: haaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Immediately after his tirade this 28/0 left the table. I believe he never overplays his hands.

Un [censored] believable. After this lady hurts my girlfriend's knee and smashed my face up last night by running a red light, today she announces she's suing us because "her neck hurts and she's in serious pain". She ran a light in front of witnesses, the cops say she obviously ran the light, she hit us going like 40 mph, totaled our car completely, nearly flipped us and now she has the nerve to lie? WTF???

And I'm sitting here looking like a goddamned racoon from the airbag.

Hopefully you have a good insurance agent. Make sure you keep in contact with your agent and they know it wasn't your fault at all and you don't expect to be held liable for anything. Also be aware of her agent coming to see you and taking a statement: be careful of what you say as they may try to trap you and trick you.

I'm reminded of an accident I was in once. It was on a suburban road where the speed limit was like 50mph. And it had just started pouring rain and the road was slick. It was somewhat heavy traffic but we were going the speed limit. We were going up a steep hill and couldn't really see what was beyond the hill.

Turns out there was a red light ahead and a very huge line of cars stopped that you couldn't really see. I could see the guy ahead of me and that's about it. He ended slamming on his brakes at the last moment and ramming into the back of the line and caused a 9 car chain reaction while going probably 45 mph. I slammed on my brakes and almost got stopped but probably hit him on his back bumper going about 10mph. Then I got bumped by the car behind me and the car behind him also bumped us.

(It was just a crazy situation: summer day, quick rain, weird slick road that really you'd think shouldn't have been that slick. While we were pulled off to the side of the road with the cops taking statements, 3 separate accidents happened, cars sliding into each other)

Anyways.....dude in front of me that caused the majority of the accident tried to blame it all on me. Even though all the statements were to the contrary. And his agent came to my house and checked on my car (which had no damage) and took my statement. His agent kept asking leading tricky questions trying to get me to take some responsibility for the chain reaction part of the accident. (I was liable for only back bumper damage to his car). I had a good agent tho who said baloney to the whole thing and defended me vigorously.
