If she agrees to date number 3, make it dinner and a movie at your place. That will convey the proper message. Then make your move, you really have nothing to lose and you will feel more comfortable on your home turf anyway. Since you are 26, I don't think the lack of a make out session at this point is a death knell.

[/ QUOTE ]

I like where you are going with this, but I live in shoebox studio in Manhattan and I don't even have a table to eat dinner on lol. I agree that I have to aim for a less formal, more "cozy" atmosphere.

Also, just to clarify, the above quote was meant b/c I am blogging my personal life in the cheese thread and not to suggest that they too are inept with teh ladies...

Obv we're both inept with the ladies or else we wouldn't be posting on an online poker forum for advice on dating.
I'm getting much better very fast.

I have a list of dvds and books I've read on dating since I've started posting here, it's enlightened me greatly. If you want the list.

And welcome to the "blogging our lives on ssnl" club, glad to have another member. I'd give advice, but it's blind leading the blind.

How about you order in some excellent Chinese or Thai take-out and eat it on a coffee table while watching a movie that you will both enjoy -- hopefully not watching ? If she also has romantic intentions, then this should not bother her.

Meeting for coffee and dinner like old friends or business associates isn't sending her the right signal. If she wants to get down with you, then as long as you don't Jekyll and Hyde her, you really can't do anything too horribly wrong here.

Couple of questions: 1) Is she near your age? 2) How did you meet her/How do you know each other?

I don't get it - are you saying that younger people are less or more likely to have a make out session by this point?

I think the language barrier is hurting my mad pick up skills.

How am I supposed to open with an awesome story, a neg or any other gimmicks if they just respond with "WHAT I DON'T UNDERSTAND"

And my Japanese isn't nearly good enough to do this.

I asked this girl sitting next to me to pick a number between 1 and 10. Took like 10 minutes to figure out what I wanted.

No. Probably just your brain randomly dreaming about things on your mind.

The dreams that matter are the ones with vivid, coherent storylines filled with non-standard images.
