I Can I get some opinions? How do the numbers look? Should I move up? [/ QUOTE ] Yes, you should up anytime you feel like it, don't worry about it. And your stats ... well to my taste, you seem a wee pit passive (both with regards to pfr and agg), but that might be a matter of style. |

[/ QUOTE ] 2 agg on each street is more than enough for 50nl and below. FE is minimal at these levels, especially 25nl. |

I thought from 25 - 50nl. Obv as the stakes increase so must your aggression, but I think it can be leaky to be over-aggressive against players that wont fold.

I definitely toned my aggression down at 25nl since I started rebuilding. I think those 14k breakeven hands were a little bit of an adjustment period for me. |

I have spent some time with a ssnl player analysing my sessions and came to the following thoughts:
Let's say we have an opponent whose sole strategy is to call your raises pre-flop and raise almost every cbet you make. Such an opponent is not entirely uncommon at the uNL games. When playing ABC Poker you have a hand on the flop at least somewhat frequently. So you will be able to play back at him then. Depending on how dumb he is, this frequency alonge might make his strategy unprofitable or marginally profitable for him. If you adapt to what he is doing you might also re-bluff him occasionally and turn his strategy into a losing strategy. Since you show down winning hands with a high enough frequency he will always fear the possibility that you have something. During a downswing usually a combination of the following happens: - You don't get any cards - You don't make any hands - You get coolered/bad beat often Especially the third usually takes you down buy-in after buy-in. But something else also happens: Now, even the dumbest aggression strategy is going to work on you because if you only make a hand one in thirty flops your opponent's aggression is automatically profitable for him. Also, the one in thirty times you do make a hand you will likely not get any action because your opponent can afford to not follow through and simply fold. To make things worse, other people at the table will jump on the train and start pounding on you as well. So not only are you losing big money in hands that you should on average make big money with. You will also get no action on good hands and bleed away money by being bluffed at constantly. This means that if you are a winning player playing ABC Poker you might end up a break-even or even losing player during these downswings even if you subtract the bad beats and coolers and all while still playing ABC Poker. The question now is how to get out of this? The player analysing my play has suggested that I should keep up the same frequencies that I have when things go normally. That means to go away from playing ABC Poker and start bluffing more frequently. The problem I have with this strategy is that if you never show down a winning hand, the aggressive players don't fear you enough and are more likely to play back at you. This can become quite costly. Any thoughts? |
