That's absurd, Adam. Do we not go after car thieves because eventually they will get out of jail and just steal cars again anyway?
As Jeff said, reputations could be permanently ruined. That's a serious punishment in and of itself. Instead, guys like Jeff (and apparently you) are fine with these cheaters just continuing on with no consequences. Ask ZeeJustin if being caught had any consequences for him. |

Adam, you quoted Adanthar's statement, which was what alarmed me more then anything in this thread. Yes, Adanthar, who is often "maybe too level headed" and may have a case for being the smartest guy in the MTTc community. He says, "you guys have no idea the magnitude of the situation" and "it's a big deal." You quoted this and made it your own thoughts as well, and now you would have us do absolutely nothing about it?

Can someone explain to me how the net effect of Jeff's OP isn't "hey, I know you guys are doing this, I won't tell anyone, but maybe someone will, so stop bragging about it"? He's not really aiming to actually stop the cheating, he's aiming to get people to stop bragging about it so they won't get caught, which seems to me even more harmful toward the online game in general then just saying nothing.

[/ QUOTE ] UCLA, Calm the hell down. I know it's the internet but I can certainly detect some hostility in your tone (which is likely justifiable). I make one post and am immediately attacked. Paul, I don't know any specific multi-accounters besides the ones that were caught way back when. It's clear others are doing it, but you make it sound like I know all the answers which I simply don't. You make it sound like we're making no progress at all, but I can say with a fair amount of confidence that this thread will decrease the amount of multiaccounting in the future. |

Adam, don't tell me to calm the hell down. You are right, I'm justifiably pissed off. I am hostile toward the cheaters, those who know who the cheaters are, and those who defend those who know for whatever reason. This is a very black and white issue to me. My money is being stolen, and people know who has been stealing it, and they are doing nothing about it.
Jeff admits he knows a specific person, his real name, his regular account, and the account he used to win a friggin' tournament. That person stole thousands of dollars and Jeff is doing nothing specific about it other then issue a vague warning that he shouldn't brag about it. Give me a break. |

Stars has done far more than you know in battling multiaccounting. [/ QUOTE ] How do you know? You should see that claiming you know Stars ostensibly clandestine procedures (which I call "clandestine" because apparently you know them but ucla/the player community at large doesn't) for catching multi-accounters makes this thread even more shady. How would you come about such knowledge? I would question the wisdom of Stars security team telling anyone who isn't a Stars employee about all the measures they take to combat multi-accounting. So why are Stars employees giving out this information to only a select few such as yourself? Why is that ucla isn't aware of all that Stars has done to battle multi-accounting, but *you* are? Look, I'm not suggesting we start a witch hunt. And it's not my intent to make this about attacking guys who likely aren't guilty of multi accounting like ajunglen. And I'm not a high limit MTTer. So take this as the view of an outsider: I'm going to submit that this thread and threads like it do nothing but make most of you appear to be part of a cabal of players who sit in private AIM chatrooms on Sunday, where you enter in multiple accounts in the big Sundays and play hands together via AIM chat with your friends, as your Stars-employee-buddies share the inside story on exactly how they catch multi-accounters (so that you might be better able to circumvent their security measures). This obviously isn't true, and it's certainly not my point of view, but the online poker world is full of cynical outsiders looking to demonstrate how rigged the industry is, and in these threads, you guys give them plenty of ammo. I think some of you guys should make an effort to choose your words carefully. Making veiled statements about how ucla "doesn't know all that Stars does to battle multi-accounting" implies you've been fed some secret or insider information about what their practices are. Again, it's not a far reach for someone who doesn't know you to think: "hey, why does he know Stars procedures, and what has he done with this information? Is he using it to multi-account? Is he selling the information to his buddies who multi-account?" etc. etc. I must add that while some of you seem awfully cavalier about AIM chat during hands, it would make sense not to advertise or even concede that happens, either. To the non-insider MTT crowd, it sure gives off the aura of "when I see this notable MTT player at a table, am I playing him alone, or am I up against a team of notable & good players he's chatting with?" It's obviously not against the rules, but I suspect it treads a very tight ethical line for many people, so I question the wisdom of even admitting the practice happens. |

UCLA, Multiaccounters have been outed before. What's stopping them from creating more accounts? Nothing. Stop making it sound like Jeff's a bad guy. He could name some multiaccounters right now and within a week they'd be back in action [/ QUOTE ] Maybe they'd be back, but back without a ton of money they had. Perhaps, losing this money might dissuade them from coming back with more accs. Maybe they'd just come back with a solo acct? just guessing. |
