If I'm on the phone and a second person calls, I never answer. I just call the second person back after I am done talking to the first. [/ QUOTE ] |

[ QUOTE ] "If the appetizer was the scooper's idea in the first place, I have no problem with this. The more interesting question is if this appetizer was so desireable to everybody at the table, why did you only order one?" His idea goes in line with my thoughts of him paying for the appetizer. If he is paying then it is cool with me. But for some guy tagging along to start snagging the last piece of an appetizer like he hasn't had a meal in days is bad restaurant etiquette. [/ QUOTE ]what's proper etiquette for last appetizer? Just asking for one first is okay? [/ QUOTE ] I'd say the person who ordered it or who paid gets it. Don't touch it otherwise. If that person offers it to you, then you can take it. |

[ QUOTE ] I would count driving half a mile on the shoulder and then trying to force your way back into stopped traffic on this list [/ QUOTE ] I do this to, but it doesn't bother me at all when someone else does it. Like Ding-Dong said, if you can't beat them, join them. [/ QUOTE ] I can't imagine how you all can justify this. You do realize that you getting there faster by cutting people means that it takes other people longer to get home, right? I would rather wait double the time than do this. |

[ QUOTE ] I sooo wanted to just tell the [censored] to STFU but relented, didn't seem worth making scene over it, and as KyleB mentioned, to many times the guy that calls the [censored] on it ends up being made out as the bad guy. [/ QUOTE ] Don't let people get away with [censored]. Ever. [/ QUOTE ] I think nicely letting people know how you feel is the correct thing to do. But judging by the tone of your voice, I doubt you're always nice about it, and I think thats many times even worse than the initial offense. For an example, look at RayPowers' story on the first page. The grandma was the one who committed the initial offense, but who comes across looking like a jerk in the story? |

I was getting on the highway late at night on Christmas eve. on a long tight cloverleaf on-ramp. Apparently I wasn't moving fast enough for the dude behind me as he was right on my ass, weaving left and right trying to squeeze around where there was no room. No reason whatsoever for him to act like this, he was going to be on the highway in seconds anyway.
I finally get to the highway and of course he comes wizzing around me before I can even merge out of the entrance lane. A mile down the road I see him pulled over. I've waited my whole life for some [censored] to get busted right after pulling some stupid crap--including NUMEROUS times when said crap occurred RIGHT IN FRONT OF A COP. I wept tears of joy for my Christmas miracle as I went by, slowing way down to rub it in. |

[ QUOTE ] At a 4 way stop, if two cars are going in opposite directions, which one is 'right'? [/ QUOTE ] I didnt know that was the rule either, and then I thought, which is right anyways? wtf? But I figure, if each guy looks to his right, one of them wont have a car theret, so it must be him that goes. I have no idea if that is correct. [/ QUOTE ]The one going straight has the right of way imo. |

[ QUOTE ]
The tip mention along with the thread title made me think of this for the first time in 15 years. I used to deliver newspapers when I was 14. I would come around to collect for $2.25, or $4.50 for two weeks, or, I think in this case, $1.60 for two weeks of Sunday papers. There was one gentleman, very nice, 45-ish, married. When I would ring his bell to collect he'd smile, say hi, how was I doing, ask if I wanted to stand inside while he got the money when it was cold, one of my nicer customers. He never tipped a cent. WTF? It must have been some philosophical reason? [/ QUOTE ] He probably didn't know that tipping was standard. Seriously. I'm usually a very good tipper. Nearly always 20% at restaurants, up to 50% if they're excellent. Last summer at the WSOP, I rode in cabs for the first time ever(I've always had a car before). I had no clue that I was supposed to tip and I didn't at first until one driver called me out on it. I figured they were making a decent percentage of the "sale", so they were already getting paid for it. Now I know better. Its a bit of an awkward situation, but I would've just mentioned it to him. Or casually told a story about a big tip you received or something like that to give him a hint. |

Also, anyone who would willingly take a job as an AOL "Retention Specialist" qualifies big time.

Apparently you're supposed to tip the DirecTv guy and the Verizion guy and the AAA driver. I had no idea. Also one more annoying thing. The Coffee Bean by my work now has a tip jar at the cash register AND another one for "Bar Tips" where you pick up your coffee. I don't think so. |

"Uh-uh. I am GOING THE SPEED LIMIT, and I have EVERY RIGHT to be right here in THIS LANE! That's right. I do NOT care that there are 15 cars behind me that want to be driving faster, because I am NOT going to move out of this lane." [/ QUOTE ] Agree with this, but I also hate..... Theres a car in the left lane that isn't going as fast as I wish. I tailgate him for 3-5 seconds, letting him know that I want to pass. I can't pass him in the right lane as theres traffic. I'm hoping that as soon as theres an opening he moves. If not, hes a jerk. But I've already let him know that I'm want to pass, so its on him to not be a jerk. Now here comes a car behind me that is not happy with the speed either....and he tailgates me for minutes! WTF is wrong with you? Do you now realize that theres a car in front of me? What do you want me to do? I want to go faster too! |
