Why was Daniel so insistent in the commentary that Gabe's river bet with KK was poorly-sized? The board is scary enough that Mike is going to have a very hard time bluff-raising, especially given the stack sizes. Everyone at the table knows Mike is capable of some wacky bluffs, but it's still fairly unlikely compared to the probability of a raise coming from a better hand. KK is such junk on that board that Gabe can safely fold to pretty much any raise. Daniel seemed to want Gabe to bet closer to the size of the pot, rather than 1/3-pot or so.

He did say he looked forward to trashing both Gabe and Mike in the booth. |

Even if the commentary was done later, Daniel seemed to say the first things he was thinking. He was kind of all over the place in describing the hand. The last thing he said was very honest, something like “ I have no idea what really happened in that hand”

I think Gabe is fun and a great addition to the table, and I think Daniel did a fantastic job on commentary.

Gabe is funny but from what I read in the amarillo slim book he has a reputation for being a baby

Slim's books are 50% fantasy and 50% made up.

I think we'll look back on this as the episode where HSP jumped the shark. First they ban prop bets, and now that Kaplan stuff (pretending they're commenting in a booth a few steps away). The producers should be embarrassed by that. What is HSP, a "reality" TV show now? If so, they need better scripts. Run them by me in the future.
Or maybe they'd consider just hosting a real game and filming it? Radical idea I know. |

The whole Gabe/Daniel swap couldn't have been any more lame.. HSP3 is not living up to 1/2 so far- hopefully things will improve as the better players get introduced in future episodes..

[ QUOTE ] I think Gabe was value-betting the river with his KK. It was an interesting bet though because it was likely a bad value bet but turned out with the nice result of the fold. [/ QUOTE ] I don't get value bet at all from that. I think he was taking advantage of the fact that people assume he is playing scared and is only going to bet strong hands at this point. He also knows that MM knows that gabe knows what MM's calling range is here. I think he knows MM has an Ace. [/ QUOTE ] Well it isn't super easy to put MM on an ace since MM checked behind on the turn. Of course MM's check with his weak ace with the 3-flush up was understandable, but still, I think his action indicated that he had a J much more than he had an A. My read on the hand was that Gabe thought MM had a hand like QJ or KJ, and might decide to call Gabe's river bet. |
