[ QUOTE ]
I've decided to write the novel that I've always wanted to write. Serious. [/ QUOTE ] In college I wrote a 284-page "novel." Comedic fiction. It is still sitting and gathering dust. But like you, I have several ideas in the can and have intermittently started and stopped with them. Most I have written since college is five chapters and then gave up. It can be grueling, but when I start rolling, it can be fun. I hope it goes well for you and I can say, "I knew him when he was diztroying online poker -- you know, the game they outlawed cause it was the cause of a 10 percent spike in homelessness and joblessness? |

[ QUOTE ] I'm not from US but I have been so depressed for the last couple of days. I don't know how you guys can stay so calm. [/ QUOTE ] I can take a few bad beats here and there but its the worst when everything crashes down on you at once. Im a college student living in Ohio. I go to Akron University. Ive NEVER enjoyed school, I got bad grades in high school and was never motivated to do the work. I had friends that got 4.0's that I was much smarter than. Then my senior year in high school (4 years ago) I started to become a student of poker, and like most people, was horrible at first. Then like most people on 2p2 found a comfort zone and learned how to grind it out and make a steady profit. anyway Im rambling..... What I want to say is Im not doing very well in college right now and poker was honestly looking like the best route for me to take for a career. Now all these bad beats are raining upon me. Online poker becomes illegal, I have a MONSTER test friday, A long ass paper due friday. I have to get surgery. All at once. I have no idea what to do, hopefully the poker world will return to its natural state and we all are not entering the "3rd" era To be honest, I took online poker for granted. Now its (soon to be) gone [/ QUOTE ] If you are as smart as you say you are, you should probably quit poker until you graduate from college. Seriously. A college degree is worth way, way, way more than the amount you could earn playing poker. Over the course of a lifetime, a college degree is literally worth millions. I really doubt you are good enough to make millions in the next few years. A college degree is the cheapest way to NOT end up doing jobs that REALLY suck. And if you claim that people less intelligent than you are getting 4.0s, then I can only say the reason you are sucking at college right now can only be that you aren't motivated, and poker is likely only making it worse. I don't want to be condescending, but I seriously doubt you've thought about what happens if you play poker 5 years, earn, say 500K doing it (that's assuming you run well and are as good as you think you are), and then wake up to discover that you are really [censored] sick of poker. Because at that point, your life SUCKS if you don't have a college degree. Having a 5-year hole in your resume and no college degree isn't a good pedigree to getting any sort of job that doesn't suck. And 500K is nowhere near as much as it sounds to you right now after you factor in how much things like retirement savings and health insurance cost if you have to pay for them privately (rather than through an employer). Change your degree. Study somtheing you like. It seriously doesn't [censored] matter. 99% of the time, the criteria is that you HAVE a college degree, not WHICH degree. High-paying corporate jobs almost always require MBAs or such, but that's another issue. |

I fear from TAG invasion at Full Tilt NL50/NL100... [/ QUOTE ] I just started at Full Tilt and because of the annoying deposit limits, I was stuck at NL50 (it'll take me 3 days to get rolled for NL200, lol). I ran about 40/30 on 3 tables and was destroying the "TAGs". It was really kind of lol how accurately I read their hands. I wouldn't worry about it much at this level. |

Just signed up with Bodog. Press releases indicate they don't intend to do anything. They'll take a direct bank transfer or Neteller. Figure I'll put enough there to start at 25NL and just roll it up. No regs against cashing out TO my bank account, just depositing FROM.

Friday is D-day as Bush signs the bill. Stars still hasn't said what they are doing. Firepay announced that they are pulling out of the USA poker market (see legislation forum), and it would really, really suck if Neteller follows suit.
I just have $$$ on Stars right now, and am thinking of taking it all out to Neteller, cashing some of that out via Neteller ATM, and seeing what happens on Friday. Depending on what happens, depositing back on Stars, or go to FT or Abs and play (re)build a bankroll. Worse comes to worst I can pull out via Neteller ATM if my money is already in Neteller before D-day. I don't want to have checks coming in from anywhere: that would suck. |
