There's been discussions in the past about single vs multiple hands of blackjack and the effect on variance (which seems like the same issue as discussed here). i think wizard of odds was asked about it once as well. if i understand correctly the conclusion was that, like you say Halo, playing say two $1 hands/bets will increase your variance relative to a single $1 bet (but not the EV, which yes remains the same). but it won't increase the variance by as much as making a single $2 bet would. i forget the exact math though. [/ QUOTE ] It's different with blackjack because you are playing against the same dealer hand. For example if you have two 17's you are either going to win both bets or lose both but if it was two different hands you could win one and lose one thus reducing variance. In roulette if you bet $1 on black in one spin and then $1 on odd in the other spin you have the same possible combination of results as if you make both bets on the same spin. It's like playing two hands of blackjack at the same time against two different dealers. |

So if you are betting on black and even, then you could statistically hit a bad run on black and a bad run on even over the same 10,000 spins which will be higher variance than just betting $1 on black over the same 10,000 spins. [/ QUOTE ] But making two bets you'd only spin it 5000 times. |

but the reds and blacks aren't split even/odd 9-9. red has 10 odds and 8 evens, black the opposite. so they're not totally independent and will increase variance some, because if you're running hot on black, you're more likely to run hot on evens.

Opened accounts at Jackpot and Riverbelle. Bonus took longer to receive this time. About a day. Busted at Jackpot for $50. Hit for $320 or so at Riverbelle. Could only wager $160 instead of $165, $20 increments.
Roulette for 5000 hands took about 2 hours. Final tally = $287 - $105 = $182 profit. Not bad. Total profit from 4 casinos = $343. Nice. [ QUOTE ] That wasn't too bad. I opened 2 new accounts with Gaming and Lucky Nugget and deposited $50 each at 10:30am EST. Bonus was available at about 12:00PM EST. I busted out at Lucky Nugget playing Bank. I hit for $483 on Gaming. I proceeded to French Roulette and autorolled/quick spin 9100 turns. Final tally = $261 - $100 = profit $161. Total time: 4 hours. I expected cashout to take 2-3 days, based on the experience in this thread. Since it was so painless, I think I'll give the other twofer a shot. Not as lucrative but easy money. Even if I bust for $105, I'm up $56. [/ QUOTE ] |
