I cannot describe in words how utterly shocked and sickened this hand makes me.

if this guy murdered the other guy on the spot and I were on the jury I doubt I'd convict

"5-4 Kills Aces and Kings

The player in seat 1 raises to $3,000 from early position, and two players call the raise. Jon Lane re-raises to $20,000 from middle position, and seat 9 moves all-in for $35,000 total. Seat 1 calls the all-in, and action is folded to Lane. Lane calls the raise. The flop comes A73. Seat 1 tries to bet $20,000, but only brings out $10,000 first and is cited for a string-bet; Lane makes the call of $10,000. The turn is the 6, seat 1 bets $20,000, Lane moves all-in, and seat 1 calls for his last $21,000. Seat 9 shows KK, seat 1 has AA, and Lane has 54. Lane yells, "Don't pair the board!" and the 2 peels off on the river to secure Lane a huge pot and eliminate two players. Lane is now up to $350,000."

So to recap the action, this guy has 54 offsuit, he sees an EP raise and 2 calls in front of him so he reraises huge.

Guy behind him goes ALL IN, seat 1 CALLS the all in, he CALLS this.

Flop is A73, guy 1 bets out again, he then goes ALL IN and catches straight.

Yeah the hand is bad enough...when he got up and started yelling "don't pair the board" I think I may have become violent.

He hit his straight on the turn, but that's no excuse for the pre- and post-flop play. This is absolutely psychotic.

Default Go Strassa!

A cup of coffee and some breakfast... As always, during the last 4 days, I start my day by opening up Cardplayers live update. This morning, I see mr. Strasser in chip lead. Go man, go!

Theo Makes Amazing Play
With over $15,000 in the pot and a board showing 876, a player in seat 3 bets out $25,000. Theo thinks for a minute, and pushes all-in. The player calls and Theo says, "Show me your Queens," as the player in seat 3 flips over QQ. Theo Tran exposes A9. The turn is the K and the river is the 10, giving Theo the straight. The player in seat 3 says "Nice suckout," as he angrily counts out chips to match Theo's stacks. The banter did not stop there, though. Tran explains, "I called out your Queens, I was 44%, basically a coin-flip. With all that money in the pot, I was willing to take my chances. I don't have to explain myself." Currently, Theo Tran has $98,100.

1)Who is this Tran guy?
2)Why's he such a douche cookie?
3)That seems like a crap play by him, or am I wrong?

[/ QUOTE ]

1)the reason he's in the updates so often is because he is good friends with Rich Belsky..they went to upitt together.
Gavin has mentioned staking him.
2) he does seem like a douche cookie...in his goddamn interview, he talks with a ghetto fob accent and some reason has to put his cap on the wrong way. he has his own site.
douche cookie
myspace

it's not that bad of a blog..pretty much living the dream life..he's probably railing shannon elizabeth or lacy jones, or maybe both.
3) it's not 44% it's 40%. This is the WSOP, no one effing folds. If he knew that type of opponent wouldn't fold QQ, obviously not a great play.

seems like a talented player..had some solid WSOP cashes. If he wins, it won't really help the poker market. There are enough vietnamese people who play poker. niice hand siiir!

Theo had a 41,550* stack at the time of his decision. So, when he goes all-in, his opponent only has to call another 16,550 in a 81,550 pot (getting about 4.9:1). It doesn't seem like Theo has enough fold equity here if he thinks he's 44% to win.

*41,550 = ((98,100 - 15,000) / 2).

** I sure hope I did my math right.

[/ QUOTE ]

he doesn't need any fold equity. risking 41,550 to win 56,550 at 44% means he gains 1,614 chips on average if villain never folds.

[/ QUOTE ]It's just a standard squeeze play gone bad, then good. After he makes the first reraise he certaily is getting odds on both the first all in call and the flop call. It's certainly could be questionable to pull a squeeze in the first place.

Yes I didn't initially see he had a double gutter and actaully made it on the turn, not that it makes his play any more intelligent.

At least it will be fun watching him donk off his huge stack (or infuriating watching him grow it futher).

I would say this is far from a "standard" squeeze play

1. The inital raiser is EP and barring some maniac image you can't expect him to raise junk or something marginal from EP.

2. There are MULTIPLE callers, not just 1. The more callers increases the chance someone could easily have a hand they can find a call with or be sandbagging a big hand.

EP raises to 3K. Two others call, so 9K in the pot.

Lane tries to steal by raising to 20K. (29K total pot)

Seat 9 puts in 35K, (64K).

Seat 1 calls another 32K, (96K pot)

Lane only has to put in 15K to call a 111,000 pot.

Crazy? Yes. But I can see how it happened.

Edit to add P5 update:

[ QUOTE ]
Right now, CardPlayer reports Jon Lane, aka G6Dragon, has a commanding 350,000 chips and Jason Strasser, aka strassa2, has 352,000 chips. These two P5ers are the top two in chips in the entire tournament! This is amazing news considering this event started five days ago with almost 9,000 players.

WhoJedi was kind enough to get us this picture of G6Dragon when he busted kings and aces with 4-5o:
