On the topic of the magazine and things 2p2 has done poorly, they turned down an artcile submitted by Schneids because it was too strategy-heavy. Retarded--tarded once, then tarded all over again--Retarded.

Schneids, who is perhaps the most marketable and best testament to 2p2's teachings gets shot down and BVT gets to post nonsense. The magazine is another fantastic point towards the "what is exactly going on here" argument. |

I feel bad for Ed Miller right now. I love the drama, but I can only imagine how much of a pain in the ass this must be for him to deal with right now.

[ QUOTE ] People (Evan?) who think that Mason doesn't understand this business and doesn't know how to run it need to think again. It's not everyone who can start a business from scratch and bring it to the level of success Mason has achieved. Certainly the fortuitous arrival of the poker boom on the wings of televised poker has helped 2p2 immensely, but many other entrepreneurs, authors/publishers in particular, have also tried to take advantage of the poker boom with much less success. So 2p2 must be doing something right. [/ QUOTE ] Have you ever heard of variance? [/ QUOTE ] Yes, I have, but this is not a matter of catching an ace on the river. I have put in a lot of thought about 2p2's business model. Although I do not profit from the sales of Edward's books, obviously I want them to do well. At first, I had my doubts about the 2p2 business model, but as I looked into things more deeply, discussed it with Edward, and even conversed (briefly) with Mason on some aspects of running 2p2, I came to understand the strengths of the way 2p2 does business. Any human enterprise has room for improvement, but I can see the validity of Mason's choices. FWIW at one time I thought I knew better on the matter of book promotion, but I was wrong. A student of mine had come back to grad school after a number of years working in the promotion department of a major publisher, and he convinced me that it would be highly beneficial to hire a certain publicist he recommended. I conveyed this to Edward who discussed it with Mason. A trial contract was arranged, and to make a long story short the publicist was worse than useless. Whether a different publicist would have been more competent and achieved better results, I don't know. But I do know that Mason's current methods work very well and are certainly cost effective. My second foray into publicizing Edward's books and 2p2 has worked rather better. The Queer Eye business was my idea, and at very low cost, the program did create a sales bump and higher visibility for Edward and 2p2. It is very clear to me, however, that I do not know better than Mason about how to run a poker publishing company and website, and I seriously doubt that Evan or any other random 2p2er knows better either. |

LoL or Elaine are free to correct my assumptions though. |
