Personally I dont care one way or another. I was flicking thru my TV one night and thought to myself, why would anyone watch this stuff. I admit it isnt very intellectual, but I thought it was discussion promoting, and lacked any porno element, and I'm just not going to start a thread in OOT, because I dont speak that language.

If you want to lock it I dont care, but I see it had generated some reasonable response, and I dont see the point of locking a thread that is generating response and interest, albeit lacking substance or not being solid.

db,

Why do you keep your settings at 10 per page?

[/ QUOTE ]

Yah, I edited my response to explain that actually, but now you've asked, I'll repeat.

I prefer to see the site as the default user would. I feel it gives me a better feel for what a poster or lurker or user new to this forum experiences when they first hit it.

You use threaded mode as well then?

I haven't read this whole thread yet, but I thought I'd chime in with my thoughts.

What is the purpose of TLDR? It was originally supposed to be a way to discuss OOT subjects in more depth. As such, it was somewhat useful. IMO, politics doesn't belong here. Political discussions always get heated and really aren't condusive to the atmosphere the TLDR was created for.

There's a reason that I (and presumably others) didn't go to the politics forum. So is TLDR turning into another politics forum?

Man, if you think the political discussions here weren't in depth, you weren't paying attention to the exchange between myself and PVN. But we'll be out of here soon. Mason posted in ATF that he will try to reopen Politics on Aug 15. Link (scroll to bottom)

I didn't mean that they weren't in depth (I haven't read any of the political threads). I meant that they weren't OOT topics.

While there is no politics forum, in depth and respectful political discussion is welcome here. When the politics forums reopens - in about a week - I expect political discussion will then move there in the main.

How is this supposed to differ from OOT?

Default politics

The front page of The Lounge is now cluttered with political posts. this is NOT want I wanted when I supported this forum. Is it going to turn into the refuge politics forum now or what?

Dom,

This forum is for in-depth discussion on a wide range of topics. Which threads do you think don't fit the charter?

When the politics forum reopens, I'm sure the majority of those threads will happen there, but as db wrote earlier, threads on current events / government / economics /etc. are great here for people who would rather discuss them w/ a TLDR approach as opposed to Politics forum approach, just like some people choose to discuss OOT topics here due to the different audience/rules.

I find it ironic that you have this complaint, yet you routinely give one-liner list thread responses. Those are the threads that really need to be gotten rid of imo.
