[/ QUOTE ] It's just trying to illustrate that we don't need foundless accusations clouding the issue. What people have posted about Curtains is borderline slander, and should be put into perspective. So, no, not funny... illustrative. |

BT,
FWIW, there have been many, many threads across these forums where I and numerous others have stated repeatedly that people who think that online play is totally on the up-and-up are kidding themselves. Multi-accounting like this is only one of countless ways that people can cheat on the Internet. To think that people are not sharing cards, dumping chips, and doing all sorts of other crap is naive. As I've stated elsewhere, I consider that a part of the rake playing online. I take whatever easy steps I can to discourage or reduce the practice (participating in threads like this, reporting disconnect cheats, reporting suspected collusion, etc.), but it's not something I spend much time really worrying about. If I played for a living, I suspect I would be much more vigilant in my efforts, though. |

[ QUOTE ] The mob mentality of these things are saddening and hilarious. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah. The nerve of a community made of people who make their living from poker getting outraged at cheating that directly affects their income. [/ QUOTE ] Feel free to be angry at those that cheat. Leave those that don't alone. |

Lori, This is an absurd response for a lot of reasons. So it's *not* ok for someone on the inside of Enron to blow the whistle, but it's *mandatory* for someone outside of Enron to blow the whistle?? [/ QUOTE ] Embarrassingly, although I've seen it mentioned on here many times, and am aware it was scam related, I don't know what Enron is/was/does/did. My point is meant to be that you are turning the other way if you don't rat out crimes that you stumble across. I believe it was curtains, or possibly El D who said that if someone takes you into your confidence then it becomes a moral dilemma. That's the argument I'd rather I had used. If someone takes you into their confidence, I don't think it necessarily enhances your character to then get them into trouble for it. What about the many times that someone is breaking rules but genuinely asking for advice? If you get an email right now asking "I read the ZJ thread and I too have seven accounts (well six but my brother likes a game too) what should I do?" are you seriously going to email party and get that person into trouble? I'm afraid I wouldn't. I might if they ignored my advice when I replied, but that's now a different question. Lori |

[ QUOTE ] In a way, ZJ just found a weakness in the software and used it to his advantage. That is the characteristic of a cheat but is also one of an opportunist. I think about half the players on this forum would cheat (for example sit at the same table with 2 account names) if they were sure they were going to get away with it. [/ QUOTE ] Wow. What's wrong with you people?? [/ QUOTE ] In case you're not clear because of my other reply, I believe I'm mainly on your side here. There are some very disturbing replies in this thread. Lori |
