Lately I've been thinking in terms of 1000 hands stretches. 5PTBB/100 is always exactly one 100bb buy-in regardless of what stakes you are playing. If you are playing 200NL and win $200 per 1000 hands you are doing decent. If you win $300 per 1000 you are golden. If you are expecting to win a lot more than this you are just being greedy: Keep expectations realistic. Poker is a grind.

So QFT

It sucks though, to realize after a 6-buyin downswing, that you need 6K hands to recover which will take more than a day (for me typically a mf-ing week).

You are trying hard to parlay.

Lucky

[/ QUOTE ]

what does this mean?

parlay is when you're a pirate and you want to talk to the chief pirate before the other pirates kill you... right?

[/ QUOTE ]

It when you run-play good and win some $ and try to keep the rush going by doing with some no very well thought out or risky plays. These plays result in immediate losses which you grind out of quickly, only to do it all over again.

I've been there, but I'm now there now because I've learned to sit on my winnings (have break even streaks) until money making opportunities arise.

ahhhhhhhhhhhh..... tilt, yes, i know thee well

but i do have to say that i have hit very few of my draws, and on flops where i get ai before the river, villains have sucked out more often than they should have

however, i have tilted away 10 buy ins quite easily

tilt is my biggest leak atm

[/ QUOTE ]

In sports betting parlance a parlay is a multiple bet such that all the bets need to win for the bettor to get paid. I you hit your parlay you win big.

Sometimes a poker player will win a stack or two and then take an extra risk with that newly one $ such that if the risk work out he/she will profit big (parlay the initial winnings into something bigger) - and if they don't work out - back to square one. This is what I was referring to as a parlay.

True to a degree, but your average winning sessions will have a better winrate than your average session, obviously.

Table 'Ulrike' 6-max Seat #2 is the button
Seat 1: AsydRayne ($384.55 in chips)
Seat 2: FGators26 ($207.75 in chips)
FGators26: posts small blind $1
AsydRayne: posts big blind $2
*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to FGators26 [Kc Qh]
FGators26: raises $6 to $8
AsydRayne: raises $18 to $26
FGators26: calls $18
...

[/ QUOTE ]
Why did you put this in the cheese thread? Is it because its heads up? I think it is a pretty interesting hand, and could probably generate some interesting discussion. I don't play a lot of heads up though, so maybe i have less fold equity than I thought.

I hope I can too soon.... was down only $80 about an hour ago but then everyone st hitting their draws. Down about $500 ATM, probably played 6k hands already today, 2 times my previous record... Well, I'm not playing bad yet so I see light at the end of the tunnel.

I'll post the graph when I'm done.
