I'm setting up a new desktop and I'm wondering whether it there is any reason not to run one 30" 2560 x 1600 monitor as apposed to two 24"-27" 1620x1200s? I play 6 tables at the max.

30" don't have internal scalers which is bad if you want to ever watch HDDVD or Blu-Ray movies. I'd suggest 2 monitors as that looks more balla.

[/ QUOTE ]

If I set up two monitors how are applications allocated from one screen to the next? How to you switch the mouse or cursor between screens? What is the recommended size - they seem to come anywhere from 22" up to 27"? Any display suggestions?

I realize these are basic questions, but I really have no clue. I've been 6-tabling on an old laptop with a ton of overlap (with 5 or 6 open tables). I'm not balla, but I could be if I wanted to.

I only have one monitor so I can't tell you from experience but I'm pretty sure you just drag your cursor from one monitor to the other.

[/ QUOTE ]

windows has an extend desktop option under display settings, then you just drag across

UltraMon is a good program so you can have your tool bar, bakcground, etc. go across

if you want to mirror your monitors (same thing on both), for a lot of the Intel vid chips you press ctr+alt+F12 and there is a mirroring option that pops up

Yes, the two monitors act as one left to right. You can move applications between them in the same manner you move applications around one monitor.

<Dumb Question>

How do I filter my PT stats by date, and make these graphs people post?

</Dumb Question>

[/ QUOTE ]

I see that you can double click on sessions to filter down stats, but that can't be the only way. It's a bit time consuming.

[/ QUOTE ]

use pokergrapher, and click on graph by date

[/ QUOTE ]

Thank you.

You are trying hard to parlay.

Lucky

[/ QUOTE ]

what does this mean?

parlay is when you're a pirate and you want to talk to the chief pirate before the other pirates kill you... right?

[/ QUOTE ]

It when you run-play good and win some $ and try to keep the rush going by doing with some no very well thought out or risky plays. These plays result in immediate losses which you grind out of quickly, only to do it all over again.

I've been there, but I'm now there now because I've learned to sit on my winnings (have break even streaks) until money making opportunities arise.

Lucky

[/ QUOTE ]

ahhhhhhhhhhhh..... tilt, yes, i know thee well

but i do have to say that i have hit very few of my draws, and on flops where i get ai before the river, villains have sucked out more often than they should have

however, i have tilted away 10 buy ins quite easily

tilt is my biggest leak atm

[/ QUOTE ]

In sports betting parlance a parlay is a multiple bet such that all the bets need to win for the bettor to get paid. I you hit your parlay you win big.

Sometimes a poker player will win a stack or two and then take an extra risk with that newly one $ such that if the risk work out he/she will profit big (parlay the initial winnings into something bigger) - and if they don't work out - back to square one. This is what I was referring to as a parlay.

Lately I've been thinking in terms of 1000 hands stretches. 5PTBB/100 is always exactly one 100bb buy-in regardless of what stakes you are playing. If you are playing 200NL and win $200 per 1000 hands you are doing decent. If you win $300 per 1000 you are golden. If you are expecting to win a lot more than this you are just being greedy: Keep expectations realistic. Poker is a grind.

I don't mind losing this hand at all, but what just puzzles me is what he has to be thinking to call the flop. I just don't get it, he is a weak tight player, running 18/9/1.5.

So, what's his thought process here? Entertain me

He was gonna c/r any turn. Then he picked up a pair and whiffed.

Then he checked the river because he thought "I has a pair, I catch bluff."

What happens if you open a word document or a web browser? Does it spread across both monitors and need to be resized to fit one?

No, when you maximize a window, it fits to one monitor. You can manually size something to strech accross the two monitors, but that looks pretty retarded.
