it's Bayless.. he's possibly the worst journalist of all time. It's pretty much his job to make ridiculous statements like that.

How come affirmative action isn't being taken place, and forcing the NFL and NBA to allow inferior white workers to play over blacks?

[ QUOTE ]
Skip Bayless on the Patriots: "I think they've now lost come confidence in that QB of theirs." This guy can't be serious, can he? [/ QUOTE ] haha. That goes back to Charles Barkley saying something about there is NO WAY that Skip Bayless believes everything he says. Because there is a 100% chance that he is saying that to stir the pot, or better yet he didn't watch the game. |

Skip Bayless is incredibly polar with his stuff. He says some stuff that I find to be completely dead-on accurate and even insightful, and then he comes out and says [censored] like this.
Most talking heads are consistantly retarded, Bayless atleast has some good moments to go with his retardedness. |

[ QUOTE ]
There is a big difference between the media mentioning/covering it and harping on it, driving it down our throats, drawing attention to it over and over and over and over. You'll hear about it 50 million times before the game, 50 million times pre-game show, 50 million times during the game, and 50 million times after the game. Sports broadcasters should focus on sports, leave the political/social commentary to someone else. Just like for some god damn reason sports broadcasters are still able to work in references to hurricane Katrina no matter what the teams or sports, wtf. I personaly had no clue no black coach had ever coached in the super bowl till this week, because I DON'T GIVE A DAMN. I don't keep a chart on my wall of the races of the NFL coaches, etc. [/ QUOTE ] Since the race discussion seems ill-received, I'll just make my final point that I know it will be driven down our throats. But since some non-analysis of the game is built up every year, and in every sport, I think this story is better than a lot of the other options. James |

[ QUOTE ] Edit: For the NFL's % of black coaches to match up with the population, we'd have to fire two of them. [/ QUOTE ] Sure, but for the % of black coaches to match up with the NFL's population (of players, that is), you'd have to hire 15 more of them. [/ QUOTE ] To play devil's advocate, why couldn't an unbiased (say, purple person) argue that the % of white players PLAYING in the NFL does not match up with the % that are COACHING? What is the difference? Perhaps blacks are better at the performance of the game, whereas whites are better planners? I'm confused. Is the NFL now just going to hire an exorbitant (relative to general pop %) amount of black coaches to "make up" for the past? Because that would obviously slight otherwise qualified white, hispanic, and asian coaches. |

[ QUOTE ] Let's not forget that the past X amount of times the Pats beat the Colts, EVERYTHING went the Pats' way. Quit complaining. [/ QUOTE ] geez is this the kind of retarded flaming that went on this thread? exactly what was I complaining about? [/ QUOTE ] You must have a complex, man. This is twice in this thread where someone has made a broad, vague statement, and you automatically assume it was about you. It wasn't about you. Jesus [censored] Christ. |

Great game. But it's hard to appreciate right now because I'm a Pats fan. It was pretty frustrating to watch the Pats defense be totally powerless to stop anything in the 2nd half.
But as bad as the defense was, I thought Belicheck made a crucial clock management decision that cost the team dearly. And, not that it matters, but this is no second guess as I was screaming "call a timeout" at the TV screen. When the Colts had the ball around the 10 yard line and it was obvious they would either tie or go ahead in the game, the Pats should have been burning timeouts to perserve the clock. It's obvious that you can preserve the clock a helluva lot better when you're on offense than when you're on defense so that's the obvious strategy and he didn't do it until 3rd down. I missed all the post game stuff including Belichecks comments so I'm curious if the coach was asked this and what his response was. Anyone? |

Toro when should they have called a timeout? On first and 10 from the 11?
I don't think so. then it's 2nd and 5 or whatever - I think calling a TO here is very close, but far from a no-brainer. You have to see what happens on 2nd down. then they did call a TO on 3rd. so we get the ball back with 1min and 2 TO's. we are at the Colts 45 with :24 and 1 TO left, which we were clearly going to need if we made the 1 or 2 more completions we obviously needed to make. I don't see the obvious clock mgmt mistake. You could probably argue that we could have used one after the first big gain we made, but again, I think it's close. |
