The Royal Tennebaums, THe wife and I went on an oscar kick and rented all the winners from that year, loved Amerrican beauty, loved a few of the others (cider house rules maybe) THought this POS was the worst thing we had ever seen.

Had high hopes for it with Bill Murray and all the big stars, but I thought it was absolute trash.

[/ QUOTE ]

x2. I think this was one of those indie films that everyone wanted to like to appear cool but really sucked.

I love Copland, one of my favorite watch it whenever it is on movies, that being said, when the previews came out for this movie, it looked like it would be the greatest movie of all time.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yup. Just found this thread and Copland was the first to come to mind, after The Departed, obviously.

Damn they didn't have Zyzzyx Road on amazon. It would probably do somewhat well if they released it on DVD.

I saw Zzyzxx on DVD via netflix a couple of months ago. I dug it.

[/ QUOTE ]

Did you have high expectations before you watched it?

Surprised nobody mentioned "The Village".

[/ QUOTE ]

I think we can just say any M. Night movie other than Sixth Sense. Each succeeding movie's sucked that much more than the previous one, right?

Boy, Unbreakable was a dreamcrusher. Saw it in a packed sold out theatre Thanksgiving night. When it ended, four or five people tentatively and VERY briefly clapped, and then hundreds of people, who had been buzzing beforehand, silently filed out. Same deal at Signs (and Match Point FTM).

But at least they weren't openly cursing & ridiculing the film like they were after The Village. After that, I belatedly cut my losses and refused to see Lady In The Water, Giamatti or no Giamatti.

And frankly, Giamatti's been kinda shaky IMO post-Sideways. Fred Claus, wtf?

Thought Match Point was OK, but did not live up to the reviews. You're right, I meant to say post-Cinderella Man.
