Here's a link to some video coverage of this story:
Fox News Memphis What gets me is the caption for the video, though: [ QUOTE ] MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WHBQ FOX13 myfoxmemphis.com) -- A late-night party at a Cordova apartment complex turns deadly for one attempted robber, when the intended victims take the law into their own hands. FOX13's Cori Lake reports from the scene. [/ QUOTE ] Something about that wording just rubs me wrong. Defending yourself against armed robbery equals "taking the law into your own hands"? This was self-defense, not vigilanteism... |

[ QUOTE ]
I thought about posting this Wednesday; but figured no one would believe me anyway so why not wait til there was an article about it to back it up. Article I was invited to this party; but stayed home to play poker. From what I've heard two guys came in to the party and asked if they could bum a smoke and get a drink. Everyone was cool with them. About an hour later they came back in; but this time one of them pulls out a gun and forces a guy to the floor. He tells everyone this is a robbery. My friend who owns the apartment immediately pulls out his pistol and puts it to the robbers forehead. He tells him "you better drop your piece." My friend tells me the guy says, "you ain't gonna do [censored], bitch..." but the word bitch never got all the way out. Before he could finish the statement my friend splatters his brains all over the carpet and the guy who he had on the floor. Robber two makes a run for it; but is chased down, severely beaten and turned into the police. Brag: Robber attempts to punk my friend. Ends up w/o a head. Beat: I stayed home to play poker. Variance: Shampooing your carpet sucks ass. [/ QUOTE ] Dude WTF are you doing???? Why would you put this up. You never know how the things you say could impact this situation. You dont go talkin about something like this man. KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT. Stop Dry Snitchin |

Moral of the story....
Dont be a half way crook. Blast everyone in the room. No hero gun slinger and no snitch/fanboy posting on the internet. Just cap everyone and grab your $190 worth of loot. |

[ QUOTE ] I would much rather keep $1000 on me and pay them that to leave if that meant I wouldn't have to shoot someone in the head. Maybe more, like $5k. [/ QUOTE ] LOL, This is a defeatist attitude. Do you really think the police are going to protect you? What happens when they come back? Sometimes you just have to fight fire with fire. [/ QUOTE ] All I'm saying is that I'd give up a lot of money for not having to kill someone. To all that think this is "balla" and cool and whatever, you have some sick thoughts if you can think of killing a person in terms like that. Anyway, I don't have to worry about being in a situation like that because I don't own a gun, and most likely never will. I've never seen a gun in someone's home, and I don't know of any friends who own one. I like it that way. What do I do when I get robbed (happened twice so far)? Either I give them whatever money I have on me or I run. No, I didn't wish I had a gun on me so I could kill them. |

Also because it's pretty common for the police to take your gun as evidence, I understand. So now you're unarmed and the freak's freaky family and friends come a-knockin' ... [/ QUOTE ] I can't think of any gun owner I know that only owns one gun |

The police in the US are more concerned with giving out speeding tickets than actually stopping real crime. |
