[ QUOTE ]
Well, just in case, I missed a few months of High Stakes Grudge Match Callouts and Samoleus's Past Achievements (p.s. rename pls). There's no way we seriously verified that sam was a professional soccer player and a chess champion, right? And for that matter, the $6m is still a mystery? [/ QUOTE ] I think he only said he was a USCF National Master, which for someone of his obvious intelligence would be a borderline trivial accomplishment. I can't think of any reason to doubt that claim. |

I think he only said he was a USCF National Master, which for someone of his obvious intelligence would be a borderline trivial accomplishment. I can't think of any reason to doubt that claim. [/ QUOTE ] i misstated something in my earlier post. i think sam's a candidate national master, which is just one level below master (i.e., uscf rating ~2100). not that it's a huge difference, but it is the kind of thing that i imagine some on these forums will harp on two months from now. fwiw, i would not classify this as a trivial accomplishment. i believe it's a level that any intelligent and hard working person can achieve. however, it's not something that happens overnight. if anything it would require on the order of a few years of persistent work, which is not easy when you consider that chess is just a side hobby, and one which doesn't produce any substantial income at those levels. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] name a three-member panel of judges to arbitrate any disputes before you start playing. i had a lawyer prick back out of a 10K eating prop bet in which i had to eat 40lbs of solid food in 25 hours. i made the mistake of telling him i was going to eat watermelon before choosing judges and posting money. he said, "watermelon is not a solid" and quit me. judges please. kirkrrr, will you stipulate to loser defined as whomever is behind when they quit? [/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Watermelon is 92 percent water by weight, the highest percentage of any fruit. [/ QUOTE ] I think I kinda agree with the lawyer... [/ QUOTE ] Ok, beef is what, 70% water? My definition of a solid is if I cannot pour it and dropping it on your head off a 10-story pudding will kill you, it's a solid. Pudding is not a solid. Soup is not a solid. Watermelon is a solid, as are cantaloupe, honeydew melon, peaches, asparagus, carrots - where do you draw the line? How about "it does not pour and won't melt into a liquid readily." Clearly we'd need judges. [/ QUOTE ] I will bet you 10k you cannot eat a 10-story pudding. |

i think samo also has an added edge from the time he spent with the space program in the early 80's. when i googled for his name and read an old NASA report i believe the quote was "though best suited for the mission, <name omitted> is just too valuable to risk sending into space." [/ QUOTE ] awesome |

[ QUOTE ]
The red stuff is mostly water, so most of the weight would be water as well. 40 lbs of water in one day could be done; it's like 18 litres, which is just under 5 gallons. Probably possible but you would be constantly pissing. [/ QUOTE ] Ask Randallin about that he tried a similar bet with me and exitonly and failed miserably at tstone 2 months ago. |
