I suspect that due to the notarity he gained on BBV, professor77 had tons of students sign up for coaching, A3 probably figured he was a coin flip vs. 22

There are two options in his spot. Fold, or move all in. When the raise is to 350K, he can't raise it to like 1M and then fold for 500K more. He risks 1.5M to win about 500K, and he's playing the hand essentially only for fold equity so moving in is the right way to do it. I think he'll fold the other two players in this hand way more than 1/4 of the time, so yeah: I think it's a good play.

[/ QUOTE ]

So if you are playing it only for fold equity you would push any 2 in this spot?

Well, with an M of 5.5 I'd wait for a better spot than A8s from UTG, but I also don't think it's a terrible play. Certainly a lot better than many of the crazy plays we've seen.

If his stack was 800k instead of 500k, then it is indeed awful.

[/ QUOTE ]
Pushing A8s UTG with M of 5.5 is mathematically very bad. It is an awful play.

Restealing with J3o against someone raising every hand is a reasonable play. Button raises, SB reraises, push from BB with A3o is also a reasonable play.

Pushing with a junk hand in the right situation is often better than open pushing an OK hand UTG.

He is not playing only for fold equity. A3o is only about a 2-1 dog to QQ. So your loss if called and dominated is about the same as the gain if not called. Since a lot of times no one has a premium hand to call with, this is a reasonable play.

I don't know about any two. He had an ace here. It is better if you have an ace, king, pp, broadway cards, or are suited or connected. A3o is usually dominated if called, but it plays better than a lot of hands against pps. Sometimes Kx or JTs or something will make a pot odds call, in shich case you are ahead.

YO, I think the push with A3 was probably OK (but I'm just a cash game donk).

Not that the SB folded, so it might well be likely he had a read that the SB was on a re-steal. He then just got unlucky that Button actually did have a hand. But given that button porb only calls with JJ+/AK and that as he has an ace, AA is less likely, even if he's called he has ~30% pot equity. Looks +EV chips wise to me...but then again, I don't play tournies

Do you really think thats a good play? Risk more than 1 million chips, with 15k/30k blinds, just to see if the button is stealing AND the SB restealing?

I got the hand all wrong, if the button raised and SB reraised, it sure is a gutsy move to resteal, but not a dumb one as i thought.
I doubt he thought he had the best hand with A3o.
