Gelford,

Balancing and stuff is all well. But we can't base our decisions on things that are not there. The idea that a NL25 villian will adjust the range he puts you on with regard to your position because you call a 3bet with a sc UTG is really not realistic. I don't want to say anything against this type of balancing but at the low micros you do it to make him notice the fact that you 3bet more than usual (which he will notice), not to make him put you on ranges (which he doesn't do).

regarding the 43s thing, i think the whole "i don't want to be exploitable" angle is silly. we're not playing against Prahlad. we're playing against people (if you table select) that put us on AK and that's about it. and even then they pay you off. disciplined solid poker > unexploitability at our stakes. just the fact that our opponents are highly exploitable is enough to warrant a tight/ABC game.

[/ QUOTE ]

I have always hated the our stakes argument.

The villians at uNL are retards, so I don't have to make an effort or work on my game bofore I play high stakes (cos advanced plays don't work here anyway, and balancing is just meh etc

Followed usualy by bu hu hu 100NL/200NL is raping me.

Don't any of you have ambitions of moving up

[/ QUOTE ]

While the thought processes involved in poker are level independent, the conclusions you reach by them are not. Thus it is entirely possible that the correct thing to do, taking all of this stuff into account, is play boring, nitty poker.

I dont care how it gets to the middle, as long as it gets there!! =) I think a c/c or c/shove works best here

Villain is a pretty solid reg, I couldn't figure out what the hell he could call 24 with preflop, KK doesn't make since as he'll probably want to shove pre, but maybe not? I just have no idea what he would cold call 24 with here and not come over the top... ak suited maybe? I mean i'm never folding here, I elected to check and he shoved and I obv snap called.

As someone who very VERY rarely 4bets nowadays, as I know how small my range is, I can attest to the fact that I, for one, will smooth call with both KK and AA in this position. Not always, mind you, but enough to make you think about it as a possibility.

YMMV, but thought I'd help.

(Warning: I am sick and tired of the attitude of 2+2 for the most part, and so I may seem like a grumpy old man here, which I actually in some ways am, so ..... )

But here is the deal as I see it.

2+2 (and particulary SSNL) has a tendency to look down on other people and treat them like the village fools

Now the thing is, that every single human has emotions and pride.

There are two kinds of players that don't (in a hollistic kinda way), so you can't manipulate 'em as such.

One is the true calling station, he will just call call call no matter what.

Is it profitable to run very loose again him, hell yeah, you hit a piece of the flop and you are ahead.

The second one is the multitabling nitty 2+2'er. He has a starting hands chart and plays a 16/12 game or so. And no matter what, his opening ranges are the same and his three betting range is QQ+/AK at most. He is usually the one that talks about his stakes and villians not adjusting etc. (plenty of them at 200NL too)

Is it profitable running loose against him ? (Hell yeah!)

But the rest, especially the one tabler, they actually pay attention. If you raise pf three times in a row, they will know. If you keep betting into them, they will get frustrated ... and the same if you c/r them. Etc etc.

Actually the kind of villian that is worst at adjusting it the multitabling 2+2'er, he has a system and often think it is higher understanding.

So why do I post here ... I like the uNL crowd (most of it ) ... but notice, I practically never post hands here, I have a few people on I regulary talk poker with, and we all have stopped posting hands here, due to the fact that the standard responces in SSNL are 'fold pf', 'you must really hate money', 'you suck' and 'idiot'

Basically poker is a game of player tendencies and there are huge money to be made. Those of you content with beating 25NL ... I am not targetting you, but the rest of you .. I really am amazed at the lack of curiosity on display. The rigid systems used and lack of experimentation.

LOL @ some replys.

NO TWO VILLANS PLAY THE SAME, 3betting one is fine, 3betting the fish is prob not fine, ADJUST AND PLAY APPROPIATELY TO RAPE THEM BOTH.
