Assani,

If I'd done things a little differently I'd be banging hot strippers right now and not posting in the sports forum of a poker message board. You think the Celtics are happy about that Joe Johnson for Rodney Rodgers and Tony Delk trade right now? Not that they would have paid to keep him, then again he probably wouldn't have gotten nearly the contract he did if he didn't play alongside Nash.

BTW for reasons I have yet to discover the Suns drafted Deng with like the 9th pick overall a few years ago...then gave him up for basically nothing. It had to be a money thing, but whatever, I'd love to have that guy on the Suns, although if he's a three (I thought he was a four) the Suns have enough of those.

Also, congratulations on the Wizards being the number one seed in the EC with their 23-16 record. If they brought that W-L (against mostly EC teams, no less) out west they would be seeded seventh. Which reminds me, it's midseason, I'm gonna dig up and bump the predictions thread. I don't think many people picked Washington to win their division.

I understand that we could do it with basically any team, but the difference is that the Bulls didn't "give up" on those players while they were young and still role players. Curry and Brand were both very good players in Chicago(Brand moreso, but you could see the potential in Curry always). Its one thing to pass on MJ for Sam Bowie or to trade Kobe for Vlade Divac before you've seen them play; Its another thing to see how good a player is and still make the mistake of letting them go.

Assani,

Good points, then you should also add Artest to the Bulls' roster.

BTW given your posting style I thought you were some 40 YO guy and that your username was some fictional character from a book or video game. So I googled it only to find out you're an actual person.

Just a thought:

If the Bulls had done things a little differently their current lineup could've been

PG Kirk Heinrich
SG Ben Gordon
SF L. Deng
PF Elton Brand
C Eddy Curry
Bench: Nocioni, Duhon, Sefolosha

Is that team not one of the best in the league?

[/ QUOTE ]

This really isn't accurate at all. How would they have acquired the same players in subsequent years if they would have kept Brand?

I added in the salaries above...I'm not an expert on the NBA salary cap and how it works, but it doesn't seem like that high of a payroll to me, so I fail to see why they couldn't have had that team.

Not only would they not have finished with the same record, but the lottery would have been redone each season which would also change draft positions. The chance that they end up drafting all those guys in an alternate universe is close to nil.

A more realistic scenario has them keeping Brand and having a surprising good year the next season with Artest, Brand, and Brad Miller along the frontline with Curry off the bench.

Brag: Get to watch Gilbert Arenas tonight.

IMO he has taken over LeBron as THE guy to see in the NBA.
