The people in this thread who are taking all the defense's statements as total fact are unbelievable. Of course if you choose to blindly believe the defense then you are going to think the defendant is innocent. Are you people serious?

I was reading on yahoo that the majority of rape cases don't have DNA matches. I don't see how this makes sense.

Anyway, I did not know Seligmann, but many of my friends did and said that he was the nicest and most respectful kid they knew. This is compared to the other kids that went to Delbarton that are complete pricks, Delbarton is where he went to high school. I know this holds no water as this was two years ago but still.

Jungle - I'm aware of the fact that the defense would present biased information. But wrt to the DNA test, they revealed reports conducted by state investigator's, and the state did not dispute the evidence presented by the defense.

Whether or not the lack of DNA evidence matters or not is unclear, but the defense didn't present biased information in this specific instance.

I think there is a 100% chance of her suing Duke, her "alleged" attackers, everyone at the party, anyone that has ever been on the Duke lacross team, and pretty much anyone else's name she happens to remember when talking to her lawyers.

The fact that Rainbow Push has offered to pay this girl's tution REGARDLESS of whether or not the allegations are proven false is pretty retarded.

If the guys are guilty I hope they are convicted.

If they aren't guilty and the whole story is made up this woman out to get the same time in jail they would have gotten.

Regardless I don't think Duke University or the parents of these individuals are financially responsible in any way, shape, or form.

These are adult men (>18) and their actions are their own.

The biggest problem I have is not that they didn't have any DNA on her, its that none of hers was in the bathroom. Raping someone is going to cause skin, hair, fluids to leave the body. Did they magically dissapear? The guys clearly didn't clean up as two days later her broken nails and wallet were still in the bathroom.

Looks like one of the guys has an ATM receipt and a statement from a cab driver that give him only about a 20 minute window at the party. And during that 20 minute window he made a couple of cell phone calls.

Yeah, the fact she ID'd a guy who apparently has proof and witness testimony he was only briefly in the house and making it almost impossible for him to have been involved in any alleged attack, makes her whole story stink to high heaven.

It also makes the DA look like a scum bag. He probably knows there is no case but if no arrests are made he knows certain portions of the community will be outraged.

Aren't they supposed to throw out these kinds of cases/arrests, where the accused has crazy evidence he didn't do it?
