I have a question about this forum in general. I'm asking you since I'm new, you look to have been around for a long time, and you seem to know everyone here. I hope no one mistakenly interprets my question as rude in any fashion, and I hope I don't come across the wrong way.

Over the course of months and years, do folks that are frequent posters and obvious solid players on this forum start to move to say, the Medium stakes forum? There seems to be more than a small handful of folks on this forum that are very good players who play lots of hands, and I would assume become well over bankrolled for smaller stakes over time. Sometimes I wonder, as a newbie, why these guys don't move on to bigger stakes. Do long-term winning players just withdraw their winnings periodically, and stay at these stakes because it's a profitable hobby? Is there a social aspect at play that keeps a community of folks together here? Help me out here - I'm just wondering why folks that seem to be good, winning players with enough hands to have grown a sizable roll are splashing around at 50NL...

Isura,

how often are we c-betting against a short stack opponent with an open raise from mp with nothing.

exapmle, 25 nl, hero open raises 4x bb with aj-ak and has 30$ and all folds to sb with 4.75 and calls leaving 3.75 behind and pot is 2.15. flop is 973r and checked to us do we make a normal cbet here because we will be pot stuck if he pushes, and even if he has like 7 in his stack we will feel kinda stuck if we cbet and he c/minraises.

thoughts?

Isura,

Have any general advice on playing against LAGs at 50NL/100NL?

Reraise more often preflop? Become more willing to get it in with TPTK or with QQ+ in difficult spots?

If you've played 10-20 hands, what are some early typical indicators for identifying a semi-decent lag apart from a maniac?

Isura,
I have been playing sngs for awhile now and want to start playing some nl. I want to learn how to play a laggish style at 6 max.

My Question: I need suggestions on how to take notes on players. What do you look for in other players and how do u take notes?

Because I might forget by tomorrow...

6-Max, general. What happens when you have, say, top pair with a decent kicker, bet the flop OOP heads-up, and get min-raised? Ex. You have QJ and it's folded to you in the sb, you make a standard 4xbb raise and get called. Board Q94 rainbow and you bet the pot then get min-raised? Is this an auto-fold? What if you have AQ? What if you raised pre-flop. It seems as though if I call and then bet the turn, I get raised again, but if I check, I get bet into and shut out of the pot.

My question is how many pages do you think this SSNL thread will get?

Isura,

I'm a limit SH player; you may actually recall me starting out back when you and Grunchcan were giving me advice in the micro days. I'm interested in learning some NL, mostly just for kicks since most of my home games play it and I get owned. Right now, my 'learning' 'strategy' is basically lurking this forum and opening an extra table of NL25 while I'm playing limit. What changes would you advise to this strategy to accelerate my learning process?

I don't like limping much. The implied odds don't really exist since people don't give much action in limped pots, and you can get into tricky spots. I'll limp the standard hands (PPs, SCs, Axs) and some others. But I don't do it as much as most people.
