Nation -

There are a couple things I think you should do. One of them includes getting a college education in a field you'll enjoy, then pursue a career in that specialization. The other includes poker.

You've proven that you can make good money playing poker, albeit 200NL. It's still good money for a 23 year old kid.

Learn how to budget, lower your monthly expenses, and live cheaper. You don't need to eat out EVERY night, and pay a lot for booze. I'm unaware of where your expenses are stockpiling, but I'm guessing it's food and alcohol.

Throw some money into an investment account. It's never too early to start investing. Be more disciplined with your poker, and follow a strict budget.

You don't need to stop going out on the weekends, you just need to watch what you spend your money on. No shame in pre-gaming at home with a case of Bud Light, then going out and raping the specials at bars. No one is going to think less of you if you're not buying everyone shots.

I make $12/hr, and live a fairly fun lifestyle. I don't spend anywhere near what you do a month, then again, my income pails in comparison. It's all about moderation.

Perhaps you should get a part time job at the mall in a retail clothing store, working 25 hrs/week meeting tons of gorgeous girls. Or bussing tables or something. Either way, figure your [censored] out.

nation i always thought you were older, why do you want to make some this kind of committment to anything at 23, just enjoy your time at the moment and get by.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah really. Way back in 2003 when I was 23 I thought Chris Moneymaker was the best player in the world. I played $5 SNGs on Paradise and worked at FedEx. And now look at me, I play 100 NL for a living!

fwiw i'm 23, just got a job as a sharepoint developer/consultant, and am getting paid 65k (associates degree as well.) I have no idea why people think there is a strong correlation between level of education and earning potential (If this were the case all PHD's would be millionaires.)

[/ QUOTE ]

My sister is getting a PhD in public health from the top school in the world and she is probably going to be earning 40k when she gets out.

[/ QUOTE ]

if you replaced "public health" with "finance" you could easily replace "40k" with "500k + bonus"

put in the hands today and took variance like a man instead of using it as an excuse to quit or to play poorly. played well throughout the whole session.

edit: resized your graph cause you were ruining your own thread
