The OP is likely a dealer, how else would he know what harrington tipped?? also there is a thread like this every few months and they are almost always started by dealers (usually they say they are dealer, probably this time they leave that out because they dont want to be ripped.
alot of big name players advocate not tipping neyond the 3 percent, because they feel that 3 percent should be enough to provide dealers a nice wage. in all honesty it is probably good that big name players are willing to tarnish their reputation a bit by advocating not tipping because basically the casino industry is trying to shift more of the cost to the players and make more money for themselves. really the dealers should be asking why they are not getting more of that 3 percent, some it goes to other staff instead of blaming the players. |

And, like I said, a dealer would know the 3% is decent and wouldn't have to ask. [ QUOTE ] also there is a thread like this every few months [/ QUOTE ] Took you a while to get around to registering a s/n? |

no the 3 percent is a standard takeout.
but in general some dealer will post they got stiffed when someone wins and does not toke beyond the 3 percent. happens every few months. in general i only was reading and not posting for a few months because a. 90 percent of posters are pricks. b. no one cares what i say so why bother posting anyway. ill probably give up on this account as soon as i realize no one cares about anything i post soon. |

[ QUOTE ] I figure this makes up for the occasional times they get the 15% out of me when they deserved 0% for the crappy service. [/ QUOTE ] Justice. Those good waiters are gonna pay for the bad service I got at that other restaurant last month. Mwuhuhahahaha. [/ QUOTE ] I guess most restaurants add 15% for a party of 6. |

For the record, I am not a dealer, nor have I ever been associated with the casino industry in any capacity except as a recreational/semi-pro player. For those around the Bike the last few days the fact that Dan Harrinton did not tip after his win and he tipped the security guards $1 is no great inside information.

[ QUOTE ]
It's not the job of the player to make sure the dealer gets a fair wage, that's what the casinos are for, they make a [censored] ton money, 90% of poker players do not. If they have a problem with their wage they should unionize, I don't tip the people that built the tollway I drive on. [/ QUOTE ] So you would prefer a system where the dealers all make the same and you have no way to reward the better dealers? And you will be happy to pay the rake that will be used to pay for the new standard of dealing that will emerge. Do you think the dealer would be better or worse in this system? How do you think everyone paying the same amount would affect the bottom line of pros? |

I rarely tip large in a tournament... I mean we are already paying rake for christ sake. [/ QUOTE ] I'm not jumping on the "OMG you suck for not tipping" side here, but do you use this same logic and not tip in cash games too? |
