Return of the King: All the dialoge between Frodo and Sam on Mount Doom. -Not bad acting, terrible lines though, mad cheesy and gay. [/ QUOTE ] Most of that dialogue came straight from the book. It's got some extremely non-hetero [censored] going on in it. |

I loved that scene. She wasn't giving him a passionate "I Love You" kiss. She gave a him a warm "Thank you for caring so much about me" kiss. As he walks away, he says to himself "Enough now" because he has finally declared his love and can get on with his life. [/ QUOTE ] Was just about to write a response to the post slating the kiss, but realised you pretty much nailed it. Great scene and great movie. The guy in that scene is a really good actor imo. Scenes I don't like from Love Actually - most of the ones with that annoying little tw*t who plays the drums at the end. Liam Neeson is very good and its an ok storyline, I just hate the little kid. |

I don't understand why she had to kiss him. But I'm even okay with that if Keira Knightley acted it better. She has this mouth open lusting look after the kiss that doesn't fit with the whole point of a great great great scene.

Goodfellas: The very last line of the film, right before they play Sid Vicious' version of 'My Way:' "I'm an average nobody... get to live the rest of my life like a schnook." SHNOOK? Isn't that Yiddish? Why the hell would Henry Hill use the word "shnook?" I just really wish it had been "typical mope" or something. [/ QUOTE ] Rewind a little further and you get the worst part of Goodfellas. The whole scene where he gets up from the witness stand to talk to me sucked SO BAD. I would put that right up there with one of the worst moments that I've ever seen in film. Just horrible. |

It shows Marty cares about being creative even in the spots where it isn't a necessity. Whether or not you liked it, you have to admit it was outside-the-box. He swung for the fences, I guess, and some people will hate it and some will love it. At the very least, it takes nothing away from the film as a whole, so I think it's an OK risk. |

[/ QUOTE ] I honestly considered citing this scene, as well, but then I realized that this film is a narration (by Henry Hill), and it is an acceptable device to have him step outside of the film at some point and address the camera. I don't love the device, but it is not unheard of, and certainly not universally reviled. More annoying was Kevin Costner addressing the camera in the trial scene in JFK. |

The end of Inland Empire, with the song and dance routine, is so annoying and wrong and out of place...I don't know.
I want to not hate it, but DAMN--I hate it. |
