so the final table is still NL right? if so, what is the starting blind for the ft? [/ QUOTE ] I am fairly certain that it is HORSE the whole way this year. DN had stated this in another thread. |

As I mentioned in the other thread, this is how limit tournaments must work. [/ QUOTE ] No argument from me regarding the nature of limit tournaments. However, the 2007 WSOP limit events are playing much faster this year than in previous years, including this new-and-improved-five-day $50k HORSE event. Look at the percentage of field still alive in this event to last year's. We can't correlate day for day because the amount of play in each day is less in 2007 than it was in 2006. In 2006, Day 1 + Day 2 = 32 hours of play. In 2007, Day 1 + Day 2 = 19 hours of play. To compare apples-to-apples, let's look at the 19 hour mark in both tournaments. In 2006, 56% of the field was still playing at the end of hour 19. (80 players out of 143) In 2007, 35% of the field is still playing at the end of hour 19. (52 players out of 148) That's, um... bad. |

It seems like limit poker and elimination tournaments simply don't mix (not as badly as limit and no limit hold 'em in the same tournament don't mix, but that's a separate issue). Why not do something like this: constant blinds, frequent table redraws, play for a set period of time, at the end of the set period of time, the top 9 in chip counts constitute the final table, then jack up the blinds to where they would be if it had been played as a freezout, and keep raising them until 1 person is left standing.
