If you have to stay an extra day for the final day of the event, you're on track to win a seven-figure payday and I think the hassle of rescheduling a flight or missing a class will seem pretty insignificant.

Right... but there is a limit to when i can reschedule my flight. IIRC it's 3 days, so basically, if I make it past the 1st day, I'd have to rearrange my [censored]. Honestly, it's just poor business imo-- Rescheduling the event 2 weeks in advance, especially on the holiest day of the year for Jews (like uh, 1/4th the poker world).

Wait... EPT changed the date right? Not stars I am guessing. I sent stars an email bitching but somehow i doubt they have any control.

Hello Daniel,

We're going to send a mail to all our qualifiers later today, yes. The
extra day is at the end of the tournament, so this change will only affect
a few players. The players that it does affect will have their rooms and
(if neccessary) flight changes paid for by us and the EPT.

The reason this change was made was so that we could increase the capacity
above 500. Originally the tournament wasn't expected to be anything like
that big (it was 290 last year), so this wasn't part of the plans.
However, rather than turn people away, we decided to increase the capacity
instead.

I hope this clears up any confusion, but if you have further queries,
please do not hesitate to let us know.

Best regards,

Andrew

Hello,

As you may have heard, EPT Monte Carlo now has an extra day added at the end of
this tournament. This will only affect the players who are playing at that
stage. Anyone who finds themselves in that situation will have their hotel room
and flight changes (if any) paid for by PokerStars and the EPT. You can find
full details below.

Best regards,

Andrew

EPT GRAND FINAL, MONTE CARLO - EXTRA DAY ADDED

The European Poker Tour has announced that, due to unprecedented demand for
seats, an extra day has been added to the end of the EPT Grand Final event in
Monte Carlo.

The Grand Final, held at the Monte Carlo Bay Hotel and Resort, Monaco, will now
run for six days, from Wednesday 28th March to Monday 2nd April.

EPT Director John Duthie commented, "Adding an extra day at the end means we can
accommodate larger numbers without compromising the quality of the tournament
itself. The blind levels will remain at 90 minutes, which I know the players
appreciate."

"I'm looking forward to seeing some of the world's best players taking each
other on in Monte Carlo. Given the high level of advance bookings, I am
confident this will be the biggest poker event ever staged in Europe."

The European Poker Tour, sponsored by PokerStars, is expecting a record field
for the €10,000 buy-in Grand Final, which has a guaranteed first prize of
€1,000,000.

The tournament will be attended by top players from around the world including
Team PokerStars players such as WSOP champions Joe Hachem, Greg Raymer and Chris
Moneymaker, as well as fellow team members Barry Greenstein, Bill Chen and
Isabelle Mercier.

The EPT German Open in Dortmund, which finished last Sunday, saw a record field
of 493 players for the €5,000 event, beating the previous record of 480 runners
for the EPT Barcelona in September.

Players can still qualify for the EPT Grand final on PokerStars, with satellites
starting from $8.80.

New schedule for the EPT Grand Final, Monte Carlo:

Day 1A: Wednesday 28th March
Day 1B: Thursday 29th March
Day 2: Friday 30th March
Day 3: Saturday 31st march
Day 4: Sunday 1st April
Day 5: Monday 2nd April (final table)

[censored] John Duthie. Glad I busted him out of the PCA.

This is so retarded. I wanna be there for the final table. It's part of the fun. Very annoying.

LAWL DONKAMENTS

Hello Justin,

You won't have a problem finding a hotel room on that night. Infact, we're
going to be mailing all of our players on that matter later today. In the
incredibly unlikely event that we have a freak alignment of planets which
causes you to not make the final table of Monte Carlo, you will still be
able to watch it without problems.

Best regards,

Andrew

If Stars is agreeing to pay for our extra accommodations and flight changes, that's cool with me.

What I don't understand is this: They say they added the extra day to fit in more people, but it still seems there are only two day ones, so I don't see how this is allowing them to host a bigger field.

Bigger field = longer tournament = more days.
