contendor for the playoffs maybe. even if the spurs do fall off, i think the lakers, jazz, suns and mavs are going to stick around the top for a while.

They also need a new coach. I hate coaches who play veterans over better rookies so much. SO SO MUCH.

Dallas, the Jazz, SA, and PHX will still be better, but they should be playoff locks by that time as long as Zach stays out of trouble and the guys all stay healthy. Blazers management has done a great job with turnover, finding the local product in Udoka, and they have two very talented young bigs that can score. Along with Bosh/Bargnani, I think the Portland duo might be my favorite young twin towers.

It's a very balanced, fun, team, that I am looking forward to watching in the future.

Nate is the coach they need. He has disciple and thats what this team needs. Even though they are still young, he wants to win games. You can't just run out the young guys for 48 minutes every game.

Other than Fatty Magloire and possibly Dixon, I don't have issues with the older guys playing too much. I'm more of a long-term guy I guess and I don't hope for or expect the team to *really* contend (ie. for an NBA title) for another 3, 4, possibly 5 or 6 years - probably near the time some of these current regimes are on the down side of up.

I do agree Aldridge needs more time, not because he needs to develop but because he's their best 5-ish player RIGHT NOW. Once they dump Fatty I expect him to start or at least get big minutes but I think in the future Aldridge is a 4.

I think Steve Patterson is a slimy guttersnake, but I think he and especially Kevin Pritchard (who is our GM even though we don't have a GM) have done a fantastic job with the turnover. If nothing else you can watch this team lose and not get sick to your stomach most of the time. Couldn't say that for some of the teams of previous years. Especially last year, last year's team shouldn't even have been in the NBA.

I saw an interesting stat today that alluded to the Lakers regular season success and movement to be recognized as a West powerhouse. Kobe took 27 shots a game last year and this year he is taking 19 shots a game. The reason this stat jumped out at me was b/c this wasn't a situation where Iverson would have to cut down on some shots so that Carmelo could get his, b/c Odom isn't there. Kobe is taking 8 less shots a game for the team and you see the production it has caused. Makes you wonder why he hasn't decided to stop being a selfish bastard sooner, j/k.

TSC, MWII,

I don't see the Blazers much and only know what I read about them in your posts. They are coming to PHX tomorrow to play the Suns. Do they have the personnel to matchup and maybe pull an upset, or are the Suns going to pozz the hell out of them for their 11th straight win? Final score predictions, given their defensive capabilities, or lack thereof?

Also, how the hell does Jack hit a stationary object in a parking lot so hard he gets a concussion? Dumbest thing I've heard in awhile.

Also MW, I like the nickname "Fatty".

Phoenix will destroy them, not because Portland's D sucks, but because Portland doesn't have enough scorers. I would expect Magloire to get very little playing time.

Kobe doesn't seem interested in scoring this year. I would expect that to change in big/close games. He seems to be playing a DM(in soccer) type role. Doing the dirty work on D, participating in the offense when he sees good opportunities, all the while still average 20+ PPG.

I really don't think teams sucking has a lot to do with the overall points scored.
